Constructive Feedback from Halo Vet after beta.

So to start and take care of these angry fans; who after I say my opinion, will credit me as not a true fan. I will say I have been playing Halo back in 2001 when CE came out, been a die hard fan ever since and bought every title on release day. I played Halo 2 back in its golden days and it’s still my all time favorite to this day.

Now to the Feedback

After playing Halo 5 a lot this past weekend these are my thought and how I think they can be resolved.

Basic Core Gameplay:

The basic gameplay with out any of these abilities or using sprint felt very clunky, now I know its a beta but something I want to mention so it can be looked at. The melee felt very off; the old double beat down from good old H3 is back. Where two players can melee and kill each other at the same time, this happens a lot and is still very frustrating. Also something new to add to that, I have never played a Halo game where players can shoot and kill each other at the same time so much. I would say the majority of the time I or a friend would die is when we are in a BR or DMR battle, we and the enemy would headshot each other and both die just like melee’s. I don’t know what causes the issues or if there intentional but like I said I have never played a Halo game where players both die at the same time so much (melee and gunfire)

Auto Aim:

Now I know i’m gonna get a lot of blam for this but I think the auto aim needs to be tuned up a bit, most of you haven’t played it yet so hear me out. A lot of people complain about auto aim and want it gone but don’t realize how important it is for consoles, this isn’t a pc we don’t have precise movements like a mouse thus the need for auto aim. Right now for Halo 5 it feels almost completely gone. I find it very hard to aim especially with precision weapons like BRs and DMRs, most head shots are luck and now I aim more at the body so I don’t miss. Its one of the main reason why I think automatic Weapons are more dominate in the Beta. The best way I can describe the feeling is go in a game and try and kill your teammates; thats what its like with 0 auto aim, its about one notch above that in H5, any less then its current state and it would be exactly the same.

Sprint:
Sprint I would say is the most complaint about feature in all Halo. I myself have hated it since Reach and wish it to be gone but I understand the reality that it is not going anywhere anytime soon, so I try and look at the pros and cons, see what we can change to make it work, so lets look at that real quick.

(The Pros) the people who do like sprint enjoy it for better map movement and after they die they can get back in the battle quicker and help there teammates.
(The Cons) Run and gun is now brought in to Halo and the worst part is people can run away from a battle and save them selves from dying, causing a lot of frustrations as we all know

Now I agree the cons out weigh the pros and something needs to be changed. Currently 343 tried to balance it by making our shields not recharge when sprinting but I don,t feel it works at all. Before people wouldn’t run unless they were about to die and it still works the same. Shields pop, they run, find cover, wait for it to recharge then go back in. Same thing as what happens now in H5, in fact its more encouraged because now you have to find cover and wait otherwise your shields never will recharge and with thrusters now as well you get away even easier.

My take is do the revers; make it so we cant sprint or use thrusters when our shields are gone. That way people who enjoy it still have what they like but no one has the ability to run away from a battle to be saved which gets rid of the cons. If you want to look at it in a logistical stand point; shields pop, armor has low energy now, so not enough power to thrust or help spartans move as good until the recharge and power is back at %100. Basic movement is still there from H1-H3 just can’t sprint or thrust.

Spartan Abilities:
I honestly like them I feel its refreshing and works since everyone has them unlike Armor Abilities, My only real beef with them is ground pound and its not so much like its over powered or anything; cause its not and it little hard to use, its what button we use to activate it. Currently the way it works is when your in mid air you hold the crouch button, which makes you hoover, then you find a target, let go and BOOM. Problem is as a veteran player, as i’m sure most others will feel the same, our natural instinct when we jump is also to crouch( Crouch Jumping) so when we do it now though we stop in mid air for a second, cause the game thinks were trying to ground pound and it misses us up. Sometimes to we’re not even jumping, just crouch walking and it still does it. Now I know that Clamber is suppose to replace crouch jumping but I still find areas where we cant Clamber on a particular spot but we can crouch jump and make it, yet thats also effected because once again we get stopped in mid air for ground pound.

I don’t know what the solution to this would be other than to move the button for it somewhere els then Crouch. Maybe the melee button, since there are already a few tied to it so it adds simplicity, plus there is no current special action for when you melee in mid air.

Thats all I have to say on Halo 5, I think it has a lot of potential with the right adjustments. I look forward to seeing more what Halo 5 has to offer in the full Beta.

Please leave feedback and your ideas below.

Thank you,

I agree with some of your points. But the auto aim should not be adjusted at all. It feels nice not having auto aim, just simply get better. I did just fine in the beta getting 4 shots and sniping. The AR and SMG are just plain broke. But the beta felt good not having auto aim. I reached pro tier (1780) Rating just fine.

I still got plenty of Kills as well I just felt a lot of times I would have gotten a kill if the auto aim wasn’t so low and easy to miss
But thats just me
