Constructive Criticism (My Opinions)

-The BR, in it’s current stage, is ugly. It looks like it’s straight out of Reach. Make it all black, and put the ACOG-looking scope back on it. This would make it the satisfying weapon it needs to be. (Also 343, if any of your other weapons are dull grays and yellows, I suggest you go change them as well. You may not think so, but to a lot of us, it’s pretty huge that the guns look nice and have nice vibrant colors. TL;DR: Gray guns are depressing.)

-Completely remove Sprint from ALL competitive/ranked playlists, and NEVER allow it to show up in ANY of them. Period. Social playlists are somewhat tolerable. (And please don’t comment about ‘realism’ in Halo, or I will personally crawl through the interwebz and slap you so hard in the face your head will spin.)

-Completely remove whatever these ‘perks’ are from ALL competitive/ranked playlists, and NEVER allow them to show up in ANY of them. Period.

-Stop making industrial maps. We want forests, canyons, deserts, sand, water, etc. I most certainly do not enjoy looking at gray walls all day. In fact, avoid bland colors as much as possible. Use vibrant, happy colors like in Halo 3. It looks 10 times better.

-(This may just be me) Decrease the FOV significantly. It looks about the same as the FOV we had in Reach, which was inhuman and made the Spartans look really tiny on the screen. I personally liked the more… full… look of Halo 3, but it’s not really the end of the world if you don’t change this one.

-Get better animations for the weapons/sprinting. I’m pretty sure a lot of those were placeholders ripped directly from Reach, but if you are in fact planning on using those animations, please don’t. Make EVERYTHING from scratch. Do not look back on Reach for anything at all.

-If there are any other abilities besides sprint, go remove them now before you show them and force yourselves to keep them. Please. The competitive players will thank you.

IMO, none of these are what’s called “constructive criticism”

constructive criticism is when you point out the flaws of something, explain HOW it’s a flaw, and give ideas/examples on how to FIX the flaw

all you’re doing is stating your (rather negative) opinions, that i calmly, and politely disagree with

I agree with all of your points.

Foundry? Orbital? Construct? Longshore? Blackout? Citadel? Cold Storage? Epitaph? Narrows? Rats nest? The Pit?

This.

Also “Grey guns are depressing”

…guns are cold, hard pieces of metal that have been fitted together to ultimately achieve the goal of ending the life of your enemy with accuracy and efficiency.

When where they ever not depressing? I could see if you wanted better armor colors and a lighter color palette for forge… but the BR?

Idk, maybe I’m rambling, but that’s my opinion.

Maybe the needler was his weapon of choice? :L

The BR is fine the way it looks right now. It’s the same gun we all know and love just upgraded visually with better textures and details in the modelling.

Foundry wasn’t exactly pretty to look at, to be honest. Neither was Orbital. Construct had some nice lighting and a nice blue sky to look at in the background, and it wasn’t just your typical warehouse-looking thing. Longshore had LOTS of color and variety, so I’m not touching that one. Blackout was really cool because it was set at night, and it was in the sky. Citadel… was boring to look at as well. Cold storage was like a rainbow of color and atmosphere. Epitaph was one of my least favorite maps, but we could go outside and look at the sky, and there were lifts and stuff. Narrows had a sky, a cool little light bridge, and it was way up in the sky. Rats Nest again, had a sky, but it was also not just the typical boxed-in warehouse type of map. The Pit was full of yellow, had a sky, green box, lifts, etc.

My point is, don’t make industrial maps that have no atmosphere. Warhouse just looks like a bland, generic warehouse. Sure there’s a mech in the middle, but even that thing manages to look bland and generic.

I think it has a LOT to do with the color palette.

Your views dont matter to the Halo community, they are always wrong, trust me.

Hear me out: Halo isn’t real life. The BR has never actually ended anyone’s life, ever. Hard to wrap your head around, I know, but those are the facts.

I want to feel happy when I’m playing Halo. I don’t want to sit there and look at a realistic-looking game, because then the immersion goes out the window and you’re left staring at grays, pale blues, and pale greens again. I just don’t want Halo 4 to look like “Forgeworld: The Sequel.” I’m sorry if there’s a problem with that.

Basical you want a reskin of Halo 3? If they wanted to do that they would have out right said we will do nothing new. Youre going to have to adapt to the new changes, because they arent leaving. Games evolve, things change, did you really expect halo too be the same forever?

The Halo 4’s BR look ugly and overdesigned, it look like a recycled weapon from Crysis and Mass Effect. I like the Halo 3’s BR better it look simple.

Funny how you tell me that I want a reskinned Halo 3, while you’re perfectly happy with the reskinned Reach that is Halo 4.

Also, it’s impossible to ‘adapt’ to random changes, such as armor abilities. The competitive players want a similar experience to Halo 3 not because we’re afraid of change, but because Halo 3 was a great game that allowed for both casual and competitive play. Maybe it is you who should ‘adapt’ to a Halo game that’s actually good for once, instead of all the good players being limited because of gimmicks like sprint and bloom. (Not that I’m saying bloom is in H4)

Also, it’s impossible to ‘adapt’ to random changes, such as armor abilities. Judging by the fact that you throw the word “Adapt” around though, I think it’s a safe assumption that you have very limited critical thinking skills, so let me explain my view to you. The competitive players want a similar experience to Halo 3 not because we’re afraid of change, but because Halo 3 was a great game that allowed for both casual and competitive play. I wouldn’t count the Forerunner-themed ones, because most of those have their own unique aesthetic to break up the GRAY
Halo 3 looked like a cartoon, and from what we’ve seen of Halo 4, it seems to find a decent middleground between Halo 3’s vibrant color scheme, and the more serious tones and lighting found in Reach, leaning a bit more towards the former.
Anyway, I’m fine with the aesthetic of Warhouse, because I’ve heard from multiple sources that it is set aboard a ship and that parts of it not seen in the ViDoc feature views of a gas giant. It sounds pretty cool.

Hmm, insulting… good tactic, very original. Inginuity and adapdability are admarable traits. Dont get me wrong, 3 beats reach by a mile. But you have 20 seconds of gameplay and a media release and you imediatley assume the worse. At least wait til you have seen a couple of matches before you instantly judge halo 4. 343i sint bungie, the changes that bungie put into reach were porely made, so what. Does that neccesarily make halo 4 which you know almost nothing about a bad game. Yes, halo 3 was a great game, but games need to change in order to progress. If we just reskinned the same game over and over we would end up like call of duty… is that what you want?

Critical thinking skills, hmm, i prefer to call it an opinion. Your view is perely opinion, such is mine. Im not stating your wrong, nor am i stating your right. Im just stating that, with the logic you are using, you are forbiding halo to move forward. changes will happen, as long as theyre introduced right its better to adapt than to hate.

Sincerely

Silent.

All I’m getting from this is that you hate Reach and want Halo 4 to be exactly like Halo 3.

So far, Halo 4 looks like a combination of Reach and 3, which is fine by me. I don’t mind AAs, as long as we don’t have AL or AC. Sprint is fine, and for the love of the Prophets, don’t say: “it’s not Halo”! Games are about innovation and adaptation. It’s all about adding new things, whether that be completely original ideas or influenced by modern trends.

I don’t even see the flaw with Sprint. Are you upset that I can get away and live again? I don’t know if you have realized this, but escaping is always an option in a Multi-player game, especially when you are outnumbered.

Whether Sprint is here or not, I’m not going to run head first into the enemy team. I’m going to try to either flank them with grenades or try to pick them off one by one, and if they so much as twitch in my direction, then you better believe that I’m going to bolt.

I agree that a game needs to change in order to progress. However, Halo 4, as far as we know, is Reach with a BR. Keeping sprint isn’t changing or innovating anything, and it has absolutely no place in competitive Halo.

You need to understand that not all change is good. You’re hiding behind empty phrases like “Evolve” and “Innovate,” but in reality all Halo 4 has done so far is copy everything from Reach and repackage it. If Halo 4 actually did innovate, I’d be happy, but 343 decided that it would be better to just resurrect all the frustrating qualities of Reach and shove them into Halo 4, and then call it “Innovation.”

What I wanted was a proper sequel to Halo 3. No sprinting, no AAs, the same Chief we all know and love, but take the core gameplay and BUILD ON THAT. A perfect example of what I’m talking about would be the transition of Halo 2 to Halo 3. Instead though, 343 changed everything up JUST TO CHANGE EVERYTHING UP so that it would feel like a ‘new’ game.

Also, maybe you should “Adapt” to the English language there, pal.

Things I’ve changed are red…

  • BR looks perfectly fine, and it doesn’t effect gameplay at all anyway.

  • Sprint is not a bad thing as long as it’s pretty much the only ability we have. It doesn’t need to be removed.

  • There has been no confirmation of “perks” at all whatsoever, so this is just stupid.

  • Stop making industrial maps. We want forests, canyons, deserts, sand, water, etc. I most certainly do not enjoy looking at gray walls all day. In fact, avoid bland colors as much as possible. Use vibrant, happy colors like in Halo 3. It looks 10 times better.

I personally liked the more… full… look of Halo 3, but it’s not really the end of the world if you don’t change this one.

  • It’s not anywhere near a finished game, so you can’t criticize sprint animations.

  • If there are any other abilities besides sprint, go remove them now before you show them and force yourselves to keep them. Please. The competitive players will thank you.

So they show two maps and you assume they’re all like that?
