First and foremast I would like to say that I’ve been playing Halo since H2. I remember learning the assault rifle melee combo and realizing how good that melee was to get the kill. Things really have progressed since then. I am sure others here can relate.
So… Ranked is a mess right now. I think a lot of people are frustrated. I get a lot of disconnects and a lot of people quitting out. Oddball, for example, I don’t think I’ve played a game of 4v4 in days and, honestly, I think some people are quitting because it’s oddball. I feel like the games can be quite long and exhausting and I can see how people are tired of playing them. Oddball seems to be the worst but stronghold and 5 flags is frustrating as well. Team games are fun when played as team but exhausting when having to coordinate on the fly with people you don’t even know.
Give us a second playlist. It doesn’t need to be all slayer, maybe it is different timings and different game modes on different maps. Try changing things up, people will gravitate towards what’s fun and satisfying rather than being frustrated and quitting out. Eventually and ultimately, slayer has to be separated from team games. I believe you all are working on something big for ranked slayer? Either way when people can choose a slayer playlist, oddball will become a team game again. In the meantime shorten up all team games so they are bearable for now.
Pro tip for those who are frustrated with ranked right now. Play fiesta or BTB and drive around in a brute chopper. It will make you feel like a kid again.
Speaking of the social playlists, give us some type of progression. Personally, I’d like if the military rankings from Halo 3 were used. Either way, just a simple grind, reset it every season. I think people just like to work towards something and are using ranked for just that.
Attrition, keep it permanently, put it in ranked, and also expand it out to big team maps (12 teams of 4) and create a new social playlist.
Super long term roadmap suggestion. Introduce a tournament format.
I gotta say that I do love this game. The mechanics, tempo and weapon/items balance is the best of any halo yet. It’s been a long time waiting on this game and I’m glad to see it hasn’t been watered down with all the new BR style games out there now.
And finally… those damn fruit baskets! I like to crouch jump off of them but people makes some mess. Every time I rolls into the bazar, there’s chickens and fruits everywhere and not a basket to be found.
