Constantly d/c'ing

If the game is constantly going to the screen where it says searching and shows all the players, does that mean that someone is lag switching? If so, is there any way to tell who?

Another good thing to note is that most of the time I wake up dead and nowhere near where I was before it happened.

It could be lagswitching, but it could also just be lag – you could be in a match with a laggy host, or you yourself could be lagging.

A community member created a really good thread about improving one’s connection. I think it has some information you can use to measure your connection and rule out any problems on your end.

Yes, it could be lagswitching, and also when all one team is on black screen while the other one kills the black screened players.

Haven’t ran into many lagswitchers in Reach since rank does not matter. Most likely bad host, or your connection causing it.

I ran into a lag switcher once. Luckily he was on my team. It was on Reflection the guy made it go into black screen for 3 minutes and he killed at leas 5 people. I noticed his score going up and I could hear the sounds in the background while it was in black screen. I would have dashboard quit because it was boring sitting around for 3 minutes but I was onto a Perfection.

Even when the connection is solid redbar for everyone I rarely see a blackscreen unless the host is quitting or temporarily unavailable. On those occasions after the blackscreen it’s the same trashy host with an even more degraded experience.

Halo Reach’s host selection system is trash and the contracting playerbase is making that ever more obvious. You can’t have a system with no real latency or throughput checks and expect it to provide a lag free experience.
