Constant server issues since launch

These server issues are just getting ridiculous. I completely understand that Halo is currently one of the most populated games on Xbox Live, and 343 has lofty ambitions with Spartan Ops, Waypoint and full stats integration. I respect their ambitions, but the issues over the past 24 hours are incredibly disappointing. Some of my campaign stats haven’t even synced properly because of the constant outages, and neither have my friends’.

This is why we needed a public beta.

I wasn’t able to play all evening yesterday. And now today at around the same time, my rank has reset to 1, and I am unable to join anyone on my friends list or play Spartan Ops. I just keep getting the message: “The Halo 4 server is unavailable at this time. Please try again later”. Some people on my friends list are experiencing the same issue, while others are not.

This just feels like an incredibly botched release. I don’t like to bring up other games on the waypoint forum, but Gears of War managed to sail through release with dedicated servers supporting the entire matchmaking system. CoD managed to handle upwards of 2 million concurrent gamers on the MW3 launch. Why can’t 343 get it together?

343, I love your game. You did a great job carrying the torch for the franchise. I want to play your game, but you’re not letting me.

I’ve noticed that this happens with almost all games I pick up on release day. You’d think there was some already perfected formula to figure out how much server power is needed to make online play not suck in quality. I think the answer is dedicated servers, but lots of companies seem to be unwilling to spend the extra money, which seems dumb to me.

It’s not like this is a huge surprise. 343 knew there would be very heavy server load on release for the biggest release of the year, yet - like Bungie - they were caught with their pants down.

just bare with it, its expected for a 343 to have some issues because its their first mp game as a company that has a huge online community, they did get dropped in the deep end after all because bungie kindof got to ease into it where as 343 were just expected to have it all perfect which is kind of unfair.
give them abit time, they’ll get it sorted

No it’s definitely not a surprise. Which makes you wonder why they don’t spend the extra to get dedicated servers, considering how much they made off of this game.
