This… is what I want out of halo 5. It one of the many great things that makes halo, halo.
It feels so unique to be able to move in any direction at any time at the same speed while jumping around the map in one cohesive fluid motion. Not having to put your weapon down if you want to chase someone which is what sprint introduces. Not having to put your weapon down if you want to do particular jumps. NOT having the unpredictability of someone sprinting past a grenade, rocket. or projectile that you throw at them.
Now I understand wanting to implement / keep it. The logic is well Spartans can sprint and we want to make the gameplay FEEEL faster. First off who cares about immersion when gameplay suffers. Secondly the only part of halo that makes sprint make halo “faster” is getting from your respawn back into action. Well this is just silly.
There should be a penalty to dying. Not this “Press X to spawn!” “Sprint back into action!” bologna. That’s not what halo is. I feel like this is made for people who get bored if they have to wait 1 second without action. That is NOT what halo is. It should feel rewarding to kill someone, because you know if you die, you are going to put your team in a bad map position, and you won’t be there to help teamshot for 3 seconds. 3 seconds!! Do we really need X to spawn in slayer gametypes? Or any gametype for that matter. It’s only 3 seconds people. And you might say "well, if it’s “ONLY 3 seconds” why does it matter if we can press X to spawn. and I say because it takes 3 seconds to regain your shields. (Not 100% on that time)
Sorry I got a little sidetracked there, but my point still stands. Who will stand with me?
Same. I’ve always really enjoyed Halo’s mobile-centric gameplay. I hate the constant stop-go movement that sprint and ADS cause in games like CoD, Titanfall, and Halo 4.
Hey i hear you there my first halo game i actually owned was halo reach i ended up tagging along with some people i had met and eventually turned out a hard core SWAT player. I loved the game type (still do) 90% of my games were of that type. Then Halo 4 came out and however much it was satisfying to run out and get that person who killed you last with a quick headshot it entirely ruined the game type. No longer was the term “Extermination” used but the k/d. In reach (at least) people went for that hard to get achievement not some random number.
Personally (this may sound weird) I have sorta written out what it seems people have in mind for Halo 5 I even wrote out an opening story dialogue created a new game mode basing ideas off of previous games and current ones with the likes and dislikes
I am hoping to post it soon later today if it all will fit in a post. I know I have high hopes but hey when you have over 200 people tell you (when you finished explaining the ideas) to get a hold of 343 industries right away how bad could it be??
yeah i wish sprint and instant respawn would get removed.
I would like them to keep Sprint. However, I do agree with most of the OP. Instant respawn needs to be removed, and strafing acceleration needs to be returned to Halo 3 speed.

This bs again.
In CoD/Titanfall, you get accuracy penalties for hip firing, hence ADS-ing is the more viable way to kill. While ADS-ing it is easier to kill when stationary as movement while ADS-ing is limited in the first place. So in these games, you literally stop.
In Halo the choice between ADS-ing and hip firing doesn’t exist, save for scoping. There is nothing stop-go about H4’s combat as when you are in combat you exit sprint (if you were even using it) and you revert to essentially H3 movement. While in combat you strafe, you jump you do whatever, with no accuracy penalties against moving and shooting.
Pretty stupid to think that exiting sprint and rentering it is stop-go gameplay when the reality is you are entering H3 movement and exiting it.
> Pretty stupid to think that exiting sprint and rentering it is stop-go gameplay when the reality is you are entering H3 movement and exiting it.
And so instead of “stop-go,” it becomes “slow-go.” Switching between two possible movement speeds still makes the gameplay choppy instead of fluid.

Ditto Vektor. One max movement speed + properly scaled maps = better, smoother play.
Just think of it as unlimited sprint with the ability to shoot while sprinting. You have a state-of-the-art biomechanical armor suit, after all. I’m pretty sure it seems reasonable that you should still shoot at any allowed movement speed.
By the way, as an add-on, I wonder if 343i would consider eliminating the Reach/H4 stop frame when changing directions. I unfortunately did not play earlier Halos (no Xboxes underneath the ocean), but the videos of CE/H2/H3 strafing without that stop frame look like strafing would be more effective than in H4.
