I have had it with getting assists, I have almost 2500 assists already. It sucks because people keep following me around in a match and once I pop someones shield, the person following me just shoots them and gets the kill. It reminds me of the times when I got my kills stolen in Call Of Duty, which I dislike. I try my best to get my own kills but I constantly find myself getting assists. I play Halo for fun, but it becomes annoying when you see assists popping up.
Be a team player. I get a lot of assists driving the hog for my team because most players dont drive it well.
Well, you could play Objective games where kills don’t really mean much, or you could hop into Regicide and if anyone gives you an assist you can go beat the crap out of them.
You get assists for pretty much anyone you shoot but don’t kill - not just the people you almost kill.
Today I had a game where I went 5 and 11…WITH 19 ASSISTS!
In fact, I have nearly half as many assists as I have deaths (6382 deaths, 3092 assists). Assists aren’t a bad thing, in fact they’re a whole heck of a lot easier to get in this game than they were in previous Halos. In Halo: Reach I think you needed to do something like 40% of an opponent’s damage to get an assist? Now you literally just need a couple of body shots or 1 head shot, the equivalent of about 20% damage. In normal Halo then, you’d have roughly half as many assists. And why are assists bad? You play to win the game, and assists help your team win the game as well.
Actually, what I like about the low assist threshold is that I can essentially “tag” someone with one shot, and then I can tell whether they died or not by watching the pointstream even if I move on to another enemy.
More situational awareness is always a plus.
I love seeing assist medals pop up.
But then again I’m a team player and my individual k/d doesn’t matter to me as much as winning. To each his own.
What others said, assists are good for the team and getting a kill “stolen” just means the player was killed faster and the team can now move on to the next guy. And if your good at head shots you should be able to steal just as many kills that get stolen from you.
