Before you Read: This post ignores all things stated by 343 and other sources. This is just a basic thought of the potential plot of the game.
Aside from all things canon, what if Chief has gone “rouge” due to a deal with the Guardians / Forerunners to betray man kind so he bring Cortana back?

But everyone including Halsey was talking about Cortana being alive and Roland brought up how they were treating her due to her surviving. She is more than a manifestation at this point, more evidence pointing to her surviving.

See, I’m not to sure about that. Cortana contacted the Domain on Requiem, thought just a local version of it. It isn’t inconceivable that the Librarian could have taken the echo of Cortana in the Domain, which we know the Domain does keep impressions of those who visit it, and did something with it at the Absolute Record. That arc is still ongoing in Halo: Escalation.

It does seem out of character based off the story. Though my experience with the game (and maybe for others) is that Cortana is the only “person” who John can actually get on a personal level of conversation with. Now with her loss from rampancy, John has lost that connection. I feel like due to his long time in service, he could potentially have some mental instability that triggered him to go rouge.I’m aware that i’m really digging deep into this and this has a extremely high chance of not even being close to the story… But this Idea I’ve had for some time has made me really think for some time…

He seemed to have fine personal connections with Blue Team for well over 3 decades.

This is where I need to do some learning. I do not know much of Blue Team.
Alright, so I watched the IGN video of the first mission, and I’ve grown to confusion:
The Cortana model seen in the flashback of Halsey, is that Cortana after being originally created in 2549, or an entirely new Cortana made afterwords in secrecy? Halsey saying “They’ll order you to kill us both” seemed to imply the latter.

Doesn’t mean Hasley and such can’t be tricked too. They really don’t know much of anything about the Domain.
If the Domain is reaching out with a manifestation of Cortana, it could fool Halsey too.
Or maybe that is why Halsey reached out to the UNSC… she found cortana in human form or in digital form still on some forerunner world she was taken to and needed to save her because of what she knows and what the technology implies for humanity. She does always go on about advancing humanity and her spartans being the pinnacle of evolution. Just a thought.
