I have the Halo 4 Limited Edition bundle and have installed the second cd to disk. To play I pop the first disk in the console and start the game. After playing for a while the console switches off (controller light blinks) and its power supply light turns red. After switching off completely and turning the console on, the game cd doesnt display at all. This happens everytime I play. It is a recent phenomenon, the cd has been used A LOT. This happens only with the games I bought on cds. Most likely the cd has gotten unreadable.
Perhaps, I could simply use a writer to replicate it. Reason is I have most of the Halo games on disc and all the discs are giving errors and spending for all these games again is moot as the new cds would eventually get worn out as well. I tried installing the game on a flash drive but the game asks for cd on startup which makes this solution moot.
I cant afford to lose these game cds.
why cant you install it to a hard drive? you said it does this after playing a while, thus it will be fine for the machine to check and ensure its a legit copy on disc then read from the memory. problem solved.
might wanna check your xbox too though.
If all of your game discs are causing errors the problem is probably with the console, not the game.

Installing right now. Meanwhile, I just checked up the H4LC box pack, it has links about a ToU for using xbox games. Looks like making copies of the games arent really allowed. So I cant make a copy of the game cd er… dvd I have bought legitimately even when the existing one is going bad. Sad.

Nope, a wash and wipe works for the dvds but isnt working for the Halo 4 first disc. Its however detected now, Im trying install, just pray for me that the install goes well.
EDIT: Installed. I did install the second disk, guess forgot abt the first. The best part is Halo 4 seems to work fine, shall repost after online fragfest.
EDIT*: I meant wash and wipe for game dvds that are not of Halo 4, the Halo 4 first disc crashes when played from directly. Ive marked the extra ‘s’. Pardon my spelling.

I have been playing till now and stopped to take a break. After installing, infact Im finding the game playable without absurd issues. I had lot of controller issues, at 10 sensitivity Id not be able to look quickly, looking to left and looking to right were at different speeds. Vehicles moved slowly. I used to get stuck by arbitrary grenades, gameplay was slow. I could never get kills while using the machinegun Warthog. In the games I played now, I scored a lot of kills and quite a few with the warthog as well. SWAT games - I actually scored 6 kills all headshot medals without kill from the grave. While expecting something good, gameplay has in effect become superb.
@ZombieFrogHorde I am glad I posted here. If my dvd holds, Il make full use of it now.

Installing the game or playing from the disc has absolutely NO impact on how weapons impact a player. Just suggesting that is absurd. Keep an eye on your 360. If it’s shutting down at will with a red light on the power supply, then the power supply is either intermittently failing or your supply isn’t drawing enough power from the source. A game disc has absolutely no bearing on affecting your power supply, so cleaning it isn’t going to “fix” your issue. If anything, it’s coincidental that it’s working now. It’s bound to happen again soon.

Now, without running the Halo 4 dvd, My 360 never shuts down on its own. I have played other dvds for hours on end and it has NEVER given ANY trouble. When I bought the game, dvd had NO impact on gameplay. With worn out dvd, cant tell. The solution given by ZombieFrogHorde works and I can play my game perfectly well. Doesnt this mean the dvd disc needs to be replaced? I was worried I may have to forget about that dvd pack. However, the solution works and I can legitly play my game. maybe not at a whim but I am perfectly fine with playing it at times than not being able to at all.
