Considering yourself canonical...

I’m sure it’s been asked before, but do you guys tend to try to make your spartan as “canon” as possible?

For example, I spent some time looking up spartan ID numbers, so that I could give myself one that hasn’t been used yet so that I feel like I’m actually part of the lore. Seems odd, probably, but with the whole Infinity thing since Halo 4, we essentially are part of the lore now.

I try to make my spartans across each game have the same spartan tag, a similar appearance, and the same emblem (if possible).

I can’t be the only one that does this…

Considering that “War Games” are an official part of the lore now, and have been since Halo 4, I think it’s safe to say that our Spartans are canon now anyway.

now that it’s S-IV’s? yeah.

Yeah I always wear a full set and I have my own fictional Fireteam

I like to think my Elite character from Reach was canon whenever I played Firefight against friends.

I try and make my Spartan as canon as possible, starting from being a cryo frozen member of katana off Onyx and working for Oni’s blackop team ferret rocking in Nightfall, much appreciated from the lacking yet awesome SPI armor, to fulfill missions on outer colonies and inhospitable worlds

Yes to a degree, I have lots of story for Devon-A194. Though lately my fanon has started to diverge more into it’s own work because I dislike 343’s story direction.

Yup I do this to. Create a Spartan and make sure all of the IDs, equipment, dates and timelines fit in. In the Tell Us About Your Spartan thread I go way into it. I got my head canon Spartan II team also. It’s also why I guess I’m so into the MJOLNIR armor and the Spartans as a whole, it’s a great way to feel like you a part of the story. And Halo is honestly one of the few series where creating a blank slate character can still be completely fitting in canon.

For a S-IV? Sure, why not. No crazy backstory or anything, I’d like to think my spartan was an ODST or something. But no crazy S-II, or S-III backgrounds. I don’t feel those are really realistic, especially the S-II one.

What don’t you find realistic about them? Sure they might be not the best moral options depending on your outlook, but for Halo they don’t seem very out there.

I cant relate myself to a Spartan II at all, nothing against those who do choose them. I just see myself as an under dog with flaws and work well with what I am given

that’s why I love the III’s and 343 needs to bring them into the spotlight in game or video

In my own canon of a way that does not interfere with the actual story of the game/books. But I have my own Fireteam of S-IIIs that have aj entire backstory.

Yes. Yes i do.

Back during Halo: Reach, I had several SPARTAN profiles, depending on which armor configuration I wanted to play at the time.
I had F-223, or “Ridge” for my Spartan III. His twin sister, F-222, and he were a pair of Spartan III Headhunters that were lucky to be selected together. Since they were twins, their genetic makeup and relationship helped keep them together.
I also had Spartan 223, which was a surviving Spartan II that had become one of ONI’s pets, much like Locke and the Headhunters. He died on Reach, since he was in an area that was glassed.
Then I have Spartan Bernet. The first Spartan IV I had made, but unfortunately, he and his team, Fireteam Torrent, were killed on Requiem when Infinity returned to face Jul’s forces for round two.
Now I have Spartan Zim, after my gamertag. He leads Fireteam Shamrock, another one of ONI’s pet teams, of which I am still developing the other profiles for, unless I can get my Spartan Company, “Spartan Team Shamrock” off the ground.

Yes.

All tremble in fear of Spartan David ROFL - Scourge of the Covenant, butcher of Promethean hordes, Destroyer of worlds.

He’s not talking about morality. He’s just saying that people wanting to feel empowered through their fanfiction is unrealistic, and these people usually say “well, yeah! Of course, my Spartan-IV used to be a S-II but he was so friggin-ultra-hyper-lethal than he was DOUBLE-ENHANCED!”

Could also just be because most Spartan IIs and IIIs are dead by now, and its rare for any of them to be alive.

For a S-II, there was just so few of them to begin with and for the most part all of the S-II’s that survived the augmentations have pretty much been accounted for. I don’t really want to contradict the lore or anything, even if it’s just head canon. Plus, having your S-IV’s fanfic backstory include being a S-II is really overdone. Everyone wants to have their spartan be a S-II, and I totally understand. I’m just not one of those people though.

You know what SOUNDS like fanfiction, but keeps popping up in stories in general, and not just Halo? Characters always getting their hands on prototype equipment, and of course, said prototype being some extremely overpowered game changer that has absolutely no flaws, making it clear that its status as a prototype is just there to explain why this piece of equipment isn’t wide-spread.

There’s supposed to be 33 Spartan-IIs that survived the procedure, right? According to Halopedia, we’ve only got 31 named successful Spartan-IIs, with the 32nd being some unidentified Spartan that supposedly died during the Battle of Harvest, but may not have been Daisy.
