Consideration for the color blind.

Just throwing this out there: Please take into consideration color blind people when tinting maps.

As someone who has trouble seeing shades of red and pink, maps like Refuge become near impossible to see red players at times. When they are against any of the walls or structures, I have a very hard time seeing them.

I understand they are not intended to be apparent, like a red dot on a white background, but the difference in my ability to distinquish the blue players from the background and structures vs the red players is huge.

Dang that’s rough man. Is there anything in the Xbox settings your can adjust to help out?

Why Halo doesn’t have a colour blind mode is beyond me. So many other games do. I doubt anything will happen in Halo 5, but hopefully Halo 6 has a colour blind mode.

I suffer from this as well! Red team against red background maps. Blue teams against blue backgrounds. It’s incredible!

This should absolutely be taken into consideration. Either alter the map colors, or even have a setting where said colour blind player can hit “x” to alter the colour settings that please them.

It is a problem that sometimes have the illuminations of the maps, I think that sometimes the colo r helps you a lot on the map or affects you, in my opinion the colors should have a different contrast, like 2 tones in the most remarkable armor

I had same issues mines a little different I just used gaming glasses and it fixed that whole issue. Because they provide the tint and my prescription and not expensive I use them on a regular computer also so great idea to invest in some glasses if eye issues it saved me from stopp gaming!

Would changing the team colors help instead of red and blue maybe 2 colors that are easier for you to see. I’ve heard of this problem since Reach yet still no fix maybe post what team colors would help. That’s rough man going against basically a team of active camo players what it seems like anyways.

I agree that the game should possess a setting to assist those with color blindness, but I would point out that there are glasses out there that you can purchase with will rectify this issue too and not only for gaming; however, they are not a cheap investment.

The only game I know that has a colorblind mode is Destiny. Halo has never had a color blind mode which makes me wonder… How many people who are color blind even play video games? There are very few options of games to play which leads me to believe the numbers are very few. That’s probably why color blind mode isn’t in game.

If they made it available might bring more people in and play more often. I know I’d be frustrated if I wasn’t able 2 see the enemy I would think you’d die a lot since their basically invisible.

My uncle is in his mid-late 50s now and he’s been gaming since the mid-late 70s. He’s quite color blind.

Call of Duty, his favorite franchise series, has had a color blind setting since either MW2 or MW3… I believe. He loves it. He also enjoys Battlefield and I think it too has a color blind option… I think, but I’m not sure.

He plays Halo mostly for the story. And he plays many, MANY other games too that don’t have color blind options. He just makes do. I often wonder if I should save up and buy him those color blind glasses.

Well, if he only plays the story I don’t see why 343i should still spend money to put this in. He could just buy the glasses if it becomes a problem.

It’d be helpful to more people than just my uncle. He’s just one example.

And he only really plays the campaign because he’s not very successful within matchmaking; yet, he loves the Master Chief character and his on-going story. He’s not a fan of getting destroyed online. He’s just a much bigger fan of playing historic and modern twitch reflex (boots-on-ground) shooters like [specific] CoD titles, plus Battlefield, Wolfenstein, Sniper: Ghost Warrior, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry to name a few. And I imagine he likes those better because he can camp corners and apply stealthy tactics better than you can in a title like Halo. I tried to get him interested in the SWAT mode, but I guess he just prefers the feel of the other shooters for matchmaking purposes.

Back in the day though he enjoyed playing multiplayer LAN matches of Combat Evolved even if he wasn’t very good, but that was a pretty revolutionary experience at that time and there were other family members who participated who were worse than him. My brother and I were always the two team captains drafting our family members when we gathered for events like Thanksgiving, X-mas, and winter birthdays. We’d have four Xbox consoles (2 were mine, 1 was my bros, & 1 was his) up and running with up to 16 total controllers if we could recruit that many family members to try participating. My brother and I were the only skilled players and we balanced each other out pretty well, but outside a select few others (like my uncle) everyone else struggled with walking and aiming at the same time. They’d get a kick out of the experience nonetheless and enjoyed the team competition in trying to win a CTF match often on Sidewinder or Blood Gulch.

Its not just the color blind some maps are just the wrong color and favor one teams color tone mercy is the best example it favors red team they should really avoid using a color tone similar to the teams playing on those maps

Some of the castle wars maps would be terrible I think also. Since a big part of some of the maps are either red or blue.
