I should start off by saying that I’m definitely not tech savvy so excuse my lack of knowledge with all this stuff. My problem is that I seem to be dealing with latency issues in halo lately, meaning I’m getting shot through walls, literally, and several other problems that I won’t go into detail about.
I use to have charter internet but recently switched to AT&T and my max speeds are 10mbps down and 1.5 up, which is crappy in the first place. However my xbox plugs into a receiver which connects wireless to the modem in another room. I recently ordered a 50ft ethernet cable but was just wondering if anybody on here might have any suggestions or are having similar problems?

yea actually it is, or so it says it is when I check my network status through halo reach. however, my upstream bandwidth and pack loss rate says, “undetected”. not sure what that means but its been that way for quite some time

Don’t worry too much about that. I’m pretty sure a LOT of people’s upstream says “warning” or undetected rather than good.
I suspect hardlining will help in your case. My internet speed is worse than what you have and I seem to do okay most of the time but I am hardlined in. When was the last time you reset your network?
It’s been a while since I’ve reset so I may need to do that. I’m just hoping the direct connect will help with things.
I know that for me, having the hard line in DOES make a difference. I use wireless with my laptop but for gaming I prefer the stability of an ethernet cable direct to the modem/router/box thingy. (And even that’s a joke sometimes for where I live. 
)
If your connection speed is that slow all it takes is for someone else to start up a YouTube video and you’re screwed. Bit torrent downloads and streaming vids are serious bandwidth hogs and you’ll be lagging like mad and having a heck of a time trying to get kills.
Also, set your search to custom, looking for good connections and language (to avoid the plethora of Mexican kids with bad connections).
