Ok. Home sick this weekend, played a ton of Halo 5. In the past hour , 3/4 games when about half way through have been “CONNECTION LOST” or “UNABLE TO JOIN”. It’s been this way I’d say, a good 40% of my games all weekend. Fix your damn servers.
Yes, I’ve resetted the router / modem, hard reset the Xbox yada yada. I’m hard wired in. Highest speed Verizon offers. Really makes me not want to play this game anymore.
Sorry for the rant.
I’ve had this same issue. With probably 60% of the games I join, I get disconnected, unable to join, etc etc. Sometimes I can’t even join other fireteams, or have others join me. It’s been this way since I started playing in June. I’ve reset my xbox, my router, cleared my cache. I don’t know what else to try. It’s only with Halo 5 that this happens, all my other games work perfectly fine online and in multiplayer. My wifi is strong on every other device I have in the room. 343, this is getting embarrassing. The matchmaking in these games is getting too -Yoink- to even have the game be fun. I’ve lost countless boosts, rp, and xp from being booted from games for connection issues, and am now waiting out my second ban because the system thinks I’m quitting.
I love Halo, have been a die hard fan since CE, but this MP experience has got to be better for this to be worth it. Please, please look into this 343. I love this game and want to keep playing, and you’re giving me every reason not to.

It’s like clock work. Every time I use that Ultra Rare, or Legendary boost I’ve been saving forever the connection drops. I -Yoink- you not. But yea, I heard ya on everything else you said. It’d be sweet if the next big update focused solely on the servers and UI. (We’ll save the UI discussion for another topic…)
I have been facing almost the same problem but in my situation I can not enter a single match before entring it says connection lost.
same issue, and can’t play consecutive matches, always kicked to main menu with a unable to join message, been like this for over a month and still no replay from 343.
Seems like it’s gotten worse in the last two weeks. I tried 4 games in Firefight this morning. Was randomly booted after the 1st round in the first two games with the error message “Fireteam Moved On.” In the third game I got dropped into the 4th round already 2 minutes in progress; needless to say it was a loss. Finally the 4th game, got to the matchmaking lobby, found a team & a server, watched it countdown to zero, screen when black for a minute, and then suddenly found myself back in the matchmaking lobby again. I quit at that point and fired up Borderlands 2 to get a quick killing fix before work.
My wife has had even worse luck getting randomly booted from 80% of the games she’s played in the 5 days, and she’ll play in 20+ a day in Firefight.
Two weeks ago, the random game boot would only happen 1 in 100 games. Getting dropped into a match in progress would only happen 1 in 10 games. Over the weekend it’s finally gotten to the point that the experience is no longer enjoyable because neither of us is able to stay in a game long enough to accumulate any XP or RP.
To add insult to injury, server ping times are all sub 50 ms but we’re both seeing lag artifacts in player & AI movements, as well as seeing sync errors in Pelican landing & dust-off animations, in more than half of the Warzone Firefight games. Are the servers really that stressed ahead of the Anvil’s Legacy update, or are we all as a community unknowingly being beta testers in the environment?
I’m getting pretty sick of this problem. And I notice the problem more everytime I run in game. This needs to be fixed.
Yep, still a thing. In other (somewhat related) news - EA’s BF1 servers make the H5 servers look like the ‘gold standard for gaming’. Granted BF1 is in beta, and everyone is excited and playing it… but wow are those servers horrendous.
i had this for a while was booting me every time i joined a fireteam, i cleared my xbox cache and seemed to fix the problem, heres how to do it:
- hold xbox button on console til completely powers down
- unplug power pack
- push the on button 3/4 times to drain all of remaining power
- insert power pack
- wait for pack light to turn from orange to white
- turn on console
you’ll know its worked as when you try to join a lobby it will say xbox syncing
hope this helps!
