If you get kicked from friends parties, and cannot connect to matches, yet have open NAT… and properly set up router (ie you have not had this problem with previous halos or games)
Lately this has been a major headache… the cause is 100% on microsoft’s side… a few google searches of “xbox one 100% packet loss” shows many people suffering from this. I am experienced in networking and this is undeniably at the fault of microsoft. This is not a new issue, which is sad that people are still heavily affected. Yesterday all of my friends experienced the same issue. 100% packet loss, as revealed via xbox network stats on our console. We ended up not playing at all.
AS A COMMUNITY we can promote a fix to this by reporting our current network stats to this forum, this should be used by 343/Microsoft to see that the community is suffering and bring this issue to light and bring quicker action.
This is caused by the servers dropping packets. Either by
- poor design (efforts to protect from DDoS attacks … your real packets are dropped. In an effort to filter out “noise/false packets used in DDoS” OR- DDoS attacks
Either way the buck stops with 343/microsoft. They have the resources to protect against this, they just need to use those resources. It is about$. they currently dont want to spend them on better physical infrastructure and human capital (good programers) Pure and simple.
Check your packet loss… see if you are affected… post if you are… Hope you are not.
- on xbox one home screen… - go to settings- network settings- detailed network statistics- look at packet loss.- Post on this forum.
