Connection Issues!! PLZ HELP

Ever since the most recent update for halo my connections to games has been absolutely horrible. I feel like my gameplay is honestly suffering because my upload/download speed and latency aren’t very good. Just about everyday I have ran a speed test and it says i run about 9 megabits upload and 15 megabits download, with a latency/ping of usually 120-177. And it says the server i pick up is from New York when Im from south jersey closer to Philly. I have Verizon Fios and i have my xbox hooked up to my router with an ethernet cable. Aside from that just about every game i cannot trade with someone and if anythings close to me winning on my end the person im challenging gets the trade on me. I just need help how I can someone pick up a different server or somehow speed up my connection to get a better upload/download speed and a lower latency. Im not the kind of guy that blames deaths on connection but this really is getting out of hand. I honestly can’t play this game anymore at champ level in arena/slayer because of the servers and my connection. Someone please help me!

I’d like to take this opportunity to direct you to the Halo 5: Guardians Support Forum, where your plea for help will be better acknowledged.

I have decent internet (60Mbps download, 10Mbps upload, 20 - 35ms ping), and I live 171 miles south of the main 343i building, so I can’t relate. All I can say is, “Buy better internet, relocate to a house closer to a server, upgrade your modem hardare, and/or hope for the best.”

Op go to the support section as stated. An go to the thread that was started by 343 on “server reports and latency issues and disconnects” follow the information they ask of you and describe your issues in detail. But remember to answer and give them the info needed and don’t just say im having trouble. There is very little they can do for you if you don’t give them detailed info… Good luck.

Zippy.

The same advice I always give… hard reset and make sure you are using s wired connection for your Xbox.

Never knew they just posted this post recently… but one thing that pisses me is they took this long to actually consider this matter seriously. After all the ban comments on the support forum they finally respond with something like this

First rule of troubleshooting, ask yourself what changed.

Did you move, upgrade, etc. any of your equipment (router, modem, whatever)? Did anything change with your provider? Maybe they’re “working” on something or experiencing " technical difficulties". Are you at or near any usage caps for your internet service? I ask because not only can that lead to greater cost but your provider might meter your connection (drop your speed temporarily, as an example). Have you changed the time of day you play? Is someone else on your network/using your internet service hogging bandwidth?

Second rule of troubleshooting, reboot.

You can try a hard reset on your xbox (go to power and startup in settings, do a full shutdown and power back up, or unplug the power, wait a bit and power back up). You could try the same for your modem/router (either through their config pages or by pulling the power, waiting like 30-60s and powering them back on).

If none of the above gets you anywhere you may just have to make do, as it could be out of your control.
