For those of you who wanted a gauss nerf, congrats, it’s worse than the regular warthog now, no joke. In the hands of an average player like myself an 99 percent of the halo community, it is awful. The range is gone, the hit box doesn’t turn red except at very close range. The auto aim and bullet magnetism are almost non-existent. The only use it has is taking out big target like the scorpion since it is very difficult to aim.The exile blue strategy has changed, no more patrolling the back of the map with the gauss for half the game. It still can be hard to destroy with a good driver, but won’t do the damage it used to. I consistently had frenzies and running riots in it before, now you have to earn a killing spree.
In my opinion, they nerfed it too much. It did need to be nerfed, but this is a little over the top. The range is ok now in my opinion, but they made it too hard to aim.
So what do you guys think? Fair or terrible? Please do not weigh in unless you have actually used the updated gauss hog.
I don’t really use vehicles in Halo anymore except for maybe the Mantis or the Banshee but I do recall a few times getting sniped and sniping with ease from afar using the Gauss hog.

As it should be. Killing sprees shouldn’t be handed out, right?
Anyway, I haven’t played since November so can’t really comment on how drastic the change is.
I was never too good with the Gauss Hog to begin with, but I just hopped on the back of one and didn’t hit a single enemy. But in my defense my driver was not that great (he drived the Warthog into the enemy base, where we were covered with plasmas). No matter how bad his driving was though, it doesn’t change the fact that I didn’t hit an enemy 30 ft away in my first couple of tries. I know that some people could do that (obviously), but people like me need some more assistance.
Are killing sprees earned in a scorpion? Not really. I think that players who fight their way to a power vehicle deserve a reward. It was way op before, agreed, but now I can’t get a kill unless someone is right next to me, and we get stuck. Its main use is to take out the tank, which it still does effectively.
Go out and try it and see for yourself. I highly doubt my shot is that bad and I’m just crazy.

Well, some of the competitive people argued that Halo 4 catered too much to the “noobs”…guess now, they can -Yoink!- them over as well.
The change was after midnight I think, so you may not have noticed any change.
To the person complaining that you hit and didn’t kill, you probably missed. The hit box is difficult, so it may appear to hit, but miss. Very easy mistake. I was raging too when I first used it after the change. Now I just won’t use it.
Haven’t tried it yet, but I hope it’s not as bad as people make it sound. Is it at least tolerable lol?
Anyways, I feel that it should never have been nerfed, but just removed from the map. The Gauss is a power vehicle and should not be punished for being placed on a team spawn.
It’s as accurate as the Reach hog, if not better. Give both teams a rocket hog, and get rid of Gauss. Simple.
> It was Way OP, I haven’t tried it now that they messed with it. I mean I hope its useful but not OP like it was. Balance in all things.
Way OP? Have you seen how bad the mantis is for multiplayer?
Or how ridiculously fast the gauss could shoot in Reach? I still resent all those times being placed on red team on Headlong…
It wasn’t OP-it was just part of a huge imbalance on Exile.
