Yeah gotta give it to em, was very skeptical after Halo 4 and MCC’s faults. I’m not completely sold on them or Halo 5 for that matter but it’s growing on me as one hell of a game!!!

First link didn’t take into consideration digital copies sold, so its going to be way lower than the other halos obviously, and Halo in Japan has just been never a large trend, so seeing it drop isn’t surprising at all.

Agreed. I think the Halo merch and hardware is a huge part of Halo. and I personally didn’t pre-order it, but was super stoked for the release for months. There is no need to pre-order anymore. Let’s not measure value on irrelevant metrics.

Since we didn’t count hardware sales in the H2-H4 sales figures, then no. We shouldn’t count hardware sales when comparing them and claiming that this broke records.

The article states that adding digital sales probably only increases their figure by ~30%. Even accounting for this, its still last an nowhere near 3, Reach or 4.

that’s a good point. But what about digital sales? We can’t count those. And there a lot more digital sales now than there have ever been. Hell, there were none for Halo 2.
I’m not saying Halo 5 is by any means more successful than than its predecessors … Halo simply isn’t as popular as it once was … neither is Xbox. But we have no digital sales numbers. So I guess throwing in hardware sales balances it a little. It’s not accurate, but it’s millions in the bank for them and it shows the franchise is still pretty strong.
I feel like there is some wonky reporting of these numbers going on. I really find it hard to believe that this can be the greatest seller considering I know many people who held off because of 343’s track record and the smaller number of xbox ones compared to xbox 360’s. It could just be that people are so starved for a decent xbox one game that more people bought it due to the hype. With COD BO3, Fallout 4, and Battlefront coming out soon, I have a feeling that this Halo is going to be the fastest dumped by a large portion of players. The multiplayer is decent but is lacking in varied maps, gametypes, and the aim is screwy.
And are they really counting a full $400 system as a Halo 5 sale?

Yea, I agree. I’m not saying/hoping they did bad. I just don’t think you should count anything other than the actual game itself.
