- BR starts with no secondary - no radar - grenade hitmarkers disableStronghold variation - no longer will you gain points if 1 of your 2 caps is in the progress of being capped. You need to fully own the cap both points in order for scoring to occur
Strongholds on Reactor looks horrible
Would’ve loved to have seen another map but whatever, the comp settings already look kinda meh as we saw that shock pistol thing (which is apparently worthless) but it won’t be meaningful until the actual tournament.
Also 4 repulses on pickup? Super OP.
I don’t understand the disabled motion sensor. In a swat game with disabled shields I can agree but doesn’t make much sense for Halo to have no motion sensors during ranked. Okay they stated it’s to make it more competitive but it also makes it just like any other shooter then…
Skeptical of no collision and shields coming back while sprinting, overall looks fun though

343i probably would’ve removed the motion sensor altogether if not for it being a staple already.
motion sensor is seen as a crutch, and arguably limits sandbox.

comp is all abount earning information and or communicating with the team for info. Radar and grenade hitmarkers goes against this and provides free information to the players

Radar makes high level slayer games extremely painful.
I love the change to Strongholds. Shame competitive king of the hill is pretty much dead, but outside of Construct it didn’t work too well anyway. I remember when they tried doing it on Isolation and it didn’t work well. Needs a very specific type of map to be competitively viable.
I didn’t catch anything in the video about player collisions and friendly fire. Anyone else pick up any info on either?

Friendly fire is on. Couldn’t tell about player collision personally. I’m sure someone who watches it frame by frame will confirm.
It’s definitely up to each individual to decide whether or not they’re a fan of this, but it does feel like they’ve dropped regular ranked play and instead all ranked modes are just hardcore now.

Yeah I agree, while this will be more fun for hardcore players I do worry it will put more casual players off ranked. I want to see more casual players in ranked too.
i mean no real surprises lets face it, was pretty obvious what it would be. looks like classic halo even more in these settings tbh. looks good. keeps it different enough as well compared to casual playlist.
No radar is an awful decision regardless of competitive/social. Is 343i even listening to the complaints? most people asked for increased radar and instead they went the complete opposite direction.
I’m happy with these settings except maybe the lack of hit markers on nades.
would love to see a precision starts option for BTB just like MCC
I’m honestly feeling pretty down after watching that Ranked Halo Infinite video. I feel like a man without a playlist to play in Halo Infinite. Social playlists have forced crossplay with PC/mouse and keyboard people who have a distinct advantage over controller players like me, and now the only playlists that don’t have forced crossplay, ranked, have no motion tracker, which is terrible for me as I felt the 18m motion tracker in the flight was way too small, having no motion tracker at all is even worse. It also reads like Slayer, Strongholds, CTF, and Oddball are all lumped together in a single ranked playlist, which would suck since I’ve always been mediocre-bad at Halo objective modes and prefer to play pure team slayer, free for all slayer, or SWAT.
Why can’t we have the following ranked playlists:
- Team MLG (with the settings from the video, BR starts, no motion tracker, no grenade hit markers) - Team Slayer (like the team slayer playlists in most earlier Halo games, 50/50 chance of getting BR or AR spawns, motion tracker on, grenade hit markers on) - Team Objective (CTF, Oddball, Strongholds, etc.) - Team SWAT (no motion tracker, BR starts, 1 BR headshot to kill, bodyshots do no damage) - Free For All - Team Doubles (2 teams of 2 people, AR and BR spawns, motion tracker and grenade hitmarkers on)

No radar has always been a staple of competitive Halo. I don’t mind if they increase the radar for, say, Big Team Battle. But for Ranked, no radar is a must.
I think a season with these settings will be good to actually see how equipment plays, but right now I think one grapple use, 1-2 threat sensor uses, two repulsor uses, three thruster uses, and no drop shield will be perfect for future seasons.

Is forced crossplay a real thing? I thought they were modeling it after MCC where you can actually select whether or not to run cross-platform…I understand having it off during competition play but then mandate it as opposed to allowing the user to select what they want kind of sucks.
Can we get those settings with 25 radar in Big Team and social pls and thx?
(and fix the aim with controller pls)
