In the post where 343 announce it, we can see an image with some features of the game, and one of them called my attention.
15 Missions, like in Halo 2. 8-12 hours.
Thoughts?
Seems okay it does say on normal difficulty and obviously based on an average. I would say based on this information however that a competent player ie can complete Legendary would complete the game on normal in about 5-6 hours ish maybe slightly less.
Anyway now with the game being Gold if anyone want to avoid spoilers I would suggest going Dark.

Yeah, I finished Halo 4’s campaign in like 4-5 hours. And that’s without rushing on normal.

Yeah I’m pretty much going dark from now until the 27th. Will probably just watch some more multiplayer videos to keep the hype at bay (while avoiding the comments section like the plague).
Halo 4 also had only 8 missions, and 1 mission you could practically skip the entire thing with no speedrunning skills at all. So maybe 7.25 mission in halo 4? So yeah, double the length as of now. Until we get speedrunners
As for the 8-12 hours, doesnt bother me. I can get through h2 solo leg in about the same time frame and that so far has the 2 hardest parts in the collection so far.

Well, they’re not wrong. Technically, Halo 4 has 8 playable missions and Halo 5 has 15. That’s just one off from double.
i think the campaign size is perfect good way to start us of will all the new stuff that will be going on!

I think it’s great news sounds like a decent length campaign to me. Honestly this Halo is looking like it’s packed with content and I can’t wait man.

I don’t get why people keep sating this. Before Halo 4 released 343 said that there are 8 mission which was true. Unlike bungie who said there are 15 mission for halo 2 but was actually only 13.

I’m skeptical because they do have a habit of calling cut-scenes a mission oddly so the actual count could be 13-14. I recall Halo 2,4 doing the same.

Halo 2 yes, Halo 4 no.

Nope. Blue Team is Mission 2 and Osiris has a mission before it.
There are 15 gameplay missions.
17 Campaign selections (15 missions with actual game play, there may be a tutorial as well).
