Confession: Stopped Playing Campaign After Halo 3

I don’t know why, but I just stopped playing campaign after Halo 3. I finished CE on Normal (could never do the final flood levels on Legendary alone lol), H2 on Legendary with some skulls on, and H3 on Normal, but after that I just played multiplayer. I never bought ODST because I felt it should have been like a $10 dollar expansion pack, so I don’t even include it lol.

It felt so dirty at first (lol), but it really isn’t because for me Halo was always about the community and insane customs; the story has always been important to me, but the joy that I got from the community and customs was amazing (still awesome, but miss how there was always a custom to join anytime you went online). I just felt that after H3, the campaign and story that I knew was over. ODST, Reach, H4, and H5 just seem like a parallel story to the original, so I don’t feel like I’m missing out on much not playing the campaigns.

Has there ever been a Halo game whose campaign you didn’t play? Why?

I’ve never not played a Halo campaign (except for Spartan Strike, etc). I support your decision to stop playing campaign after Halo 3, because that’s a complete arc. There was no re-engineering of the storyline to sell more games (bringing back MC) - it was kind of just like an Inception ending, left open for interpretation but easily left to go no where.

It’s sort of like people that choose to only watch the original three Star Wars movies, and I fully support that as well. I can’t do it myself because I’m way too curious and get caught into the hype, but I’ll never judge someone who is content with the content (hehe) that they’ve played.

Yeah it just felt the original campaign ended with H3 for me, so I was satisfied and just wanted to play all the new multiplayers in Halo.

You should give it a chance. For its campaign, I mean. As far as Halo campaigns go, I enjoyed ODST’s because it was unique and cool how you go through the missions and piece the story together. Not to mention it has one of the best soundtracks. Worth the price of a full game, in my opinion, even without any multiplayer.

That said, if you’re only interested in multiplayer, then don’t.

Nope, I’m always at least curious to see where they take the story (even if it gets convoluted) and I find campaign is a good way to ease into the game and learn the mechanics before trying multiplayer.

Yeah I used to play campaigns to learn how the mechanics felt, but I just jump into multiplayer now because I’m pretty used to how Halo feels, regardless of the engine. I just wish 343i left glitching in Halo like in H2 where you could replay campaign over and over again with new ways of beating the level. I used to get outside the map on Outskirts and sneak up behind the jackals and climb on top of the scarab lol
