Well, we all know that we wont be fighting brutes in halo 4, yet the gravity hammer is back. It doesnt mean that other brute weapons wont be in halo 4 as well.
In halo 2-3 we had the all timefavourite brute shot, then it was replaced in reach by the concussion rifle. What one will be in halo 4?
I think the concussion rifle will still be in halo 4, and if the brute shot is back, it should function like the grenade launcher in halo reach where you can fire it, let it bounce, and detonate it at any time.
I say just keep them the same, it wouldn’t make much sense to change the bruteshot and anyways I’m sure it would cause a riot if they did. I don’t really mind if the concussion rifle goes because that gun was just so annoying sometimes, but it was useful as a counter to energy swords as the blast would nock players backwards.
Hated the Concussion Rifle in Reach, it was WAY too easy to get a kill with at close range when spammed.
It’s funny you say that about the Brute Shot, because it actually used to bounce before detonation in H2, and in that way was used similar to the Grenade Launcher from Reach.
I am pro Brute Shot returning, but extremely against the Concussion Rifle ever seeing the light of day ever again.
The Brute shot felt and looked far more destructive that the Concussion rifle. But I doubt that Brute shot will be the weapon which returns in Halo 4. While the Gravity hammer signals that the Elites may be using Brute weaponry for whatever purposes, I doubt that they will have a Brute equivalent of one of their own weapons widely dispersed among their troops.
The brute shot was infinitely better IMO. The look of it, the feel, the menacing blade, and high power explosions it makes made it the fiercest weapon in all of halo. The concussion rifle was interesting, but felt too fruity and er-concussive, to live up to its predecessor. Plus, it made jump-montages far less interesting to watch IMO.
I know its all aesthetic, but the brute shot’s aesthetics were far superior to the concussion rifle.
I was thinking about the H2 brute shot and how it bounced. It reminded me of Reach’s grenade launcher and made me think…what if there were a weapon such as the H2 brute shot, but can be charged and become Reach’s grenade launcher, essentially?
Look for forge all weapons from past games should be there for us to use. Some people have said to me that the Brute Shot and Concussion Rifle are the same, well they’re not. It’s like comparing the Prowler and the Spectre, just two different faction versions (Brute and Elite). The Brute Shot also does more melee damage and its projectiles can bounce of walls.

If you spam the Cobcussion Rifle, you are more than likely going to lose. It takes paced shots to kill without hurting yourself.
On topic: I like both. I’ll miss them if neither one is in. But I truly think the Brute Shot will be back.
