Concerns With Warzone

As I am typing this I am in a match on the map: Storm Break. My reason, I’ve given up on winning because it’s a futile fight, which is almost always the case on this map. Whoever captures the Fortress first, usually wins, I don’t know if it’s because it is ridiculously easy to defend or that an instant 150 point bonus at the start of a match is a joke. Given, the boss can be one shot with a Promethean Grenade.

But, I love Warzone, in fact I have a blast on any map but Stormbreak while playing. When Stormbreak shows up, I dread going in to the match, and since Warzone penalizes me for quitting; I am forced to stay and watch my team get massacred, or watch my team massacre the enemy based on whoever kills the Fortress Boss. and claims the Fortress first.

That leads me to my next point, how the boss kills are determined needs work. There is nothing more discouraging than winning a match, your team whittling Warden Eternal all the way down to his last Hit Point and having the other team pull off the last shot and claim the kill. I feel like the team that deals the most overall damage, should be the ones to get the boss kill; getting a boss kill swiped from another team is such a common thing it gets tiresome when it happens. Particularly when it is Warden Eternal.

These, are my two biggest concerns about the game type; other than this, I really enjoy it. I do have another concern, though it doesn’t really hamper my experience, however it is a bit annoying.

When I first heard about Warzone I expected an all out Player vs Player vs Everything type deal, not Player vs Player with an occasional enemy appearance. Even then, with the few enemies that do show up, the matches end really quickly; probably due to the massive bonus Legendary Boss kills give. I seldom get to use level 7 Reqs, let alone level 8 reqs; because usually the match gets about 3/4 of the way through and one team kills Warden Eternal for a win. So, my suggestion, higher level Reqs should be available earlier in game; or the score to win needs to be stretched out a bit to actually allow these final Reqs to be used either by lowering the score count Legendary Bosses give (Which would also assist in balancing out Stormbreak) or just increasing the score to win overall.

Anyone else have concerns? Any thoughts?

I also feel there needs to be more variation to the Warzone gametypes, though for now, given it is a launch playlist I can understand; I would just rather no more stagnation than absolutely needed.

I absolutely love how you wrote this. You didn’t complain or whine by you you used the word concern. Which is great. You made constructive paragraphs but also added in positive things so it didn’t turn into a completely negative post. Thank you for not being one of the many whiners in this forum

Great points, all around.

It would be nice to have more E in the PvPvE. Spawn waves of minions to try to retake the armories and bases. This would also provide the XP needed to reach higher REQs faster.

It think the big point bosses shouldn’t spawn in a zone in which both teams easily have line of sight form their bases/armories. I would rather see the big point bosses spawn in a set piece in which both teams have to fight each other directly for that final kill.

That is actually a pretty good idea, I like how Escape From A.R.C places their bosses; everyone has to scramble to get to them, and the places they’re in make for challenging fights,

And, the lack of E is disappointing; it doesn’t kill it for me; but I would like to see more in the future. And, your idea does a nice job of closing the Req gap; but the problem of the end game boss fights bringing an instant or near instant win is still problematic. Really aggravates me that I’m just able to use my Recon AR, and boom, game over.

I’m sort of ambivalent to Warzone. I liked the concept, but I felt like I was led to assume that there would be more PVE, thus giving you something else to do if you don’t want to PVP. I like really big battles, but it’s really disorienting when you step out into an area, and 5 guys light you up with Battle Rifles before you’re even able to see them. I feel as though the game type is set up for extreme turtling. No real advancement or tactics, just hunker down in a spot, kill everything that moves and push forward slightly when there’s more of you then there are of them.

Sad to say, I almost think the maps are TOO big, an increased player count may make things a little more enjoyable.

Also, I never seem to see games on anything but Stormbreak lately. So, new maps definitely need o come soon. Maybe Forge will give up options to create our own? I know… wishful thinking

It was different from what I had in my head with this type of gameplay. I realized that winning meant not to capture anything but wait for bosses and be the first to take them out. It was not what I expected but it did add some sense of urgency to be first. I do agree that for the first few times I was immediately taken down by 5+ players at once which was annoying but seeing people understand and adapt made it fun for me.
