Concerns With the Nemesis Support Package

Eh, out of everything in game this one is what concerns me the most. See, I like to be the sniper. I like to snipe traditionally, so I like to set up shop in an area grab a kill or two and move to another.

However, with Nemesis I’m now going to be marked by anyone using who I’ve killed. Meaning, more aggression toward me than usual is naturally going to occur. Or, well anyone who prefers ranged play. It, eliminates the element of surprise if I’ve killed you. It makes it easier to hound and track me down, or anyone who killed you with a power weapon or anyone who wishes to throw in a little ninja play.

Are there any specifics or restrictions to this? Is anyone else concerned, or have any thoughts on the it or any other Packages?

Of course, it won’t stop me from purchasing my already paid in full LE edition. But, it’s still a concern none the less. It’s kind of a blow to those who prefer stealthy gameplay from either a range or up close, it will also help weed out a specific style of gaming as well. Which, I have a neutral opinion of.

I’m curious to the communities thoughts and worries. Anything you have to throw in about anything else would be welcomed as well, so long as things are kept civil. I’m also somewhat concerned with Promethean Vision and whether or not it has been nerfed since E3 and PAX.

Most of the new add-ons that have been added into Halo 4 do concerned me in some way and this is no exception.
All this means is that when you kill someone who has this support pack on they will spend the rest of the game hunting you down.
I didn’t mind it in other Halo games when someone made it their goal to kill you no matter how many times they died but now they are going to know exactly where you are.

Big problem for snipers.

it has been confirmed by the developers that the marker on the person who killed you only lasts a few seconds after you respawn

It’s not a permanent marker, only temporary.

It lasts like 6 seconds.

Yea it just shows more and more about how they are trying to weaken a good player.

343: Oh, you get alot of kills for the team? Well heres this nifty little handicap bad players can use to get rid of your earned skill with the press of a button.

But thank god its temporary. Sounds kinda good for corner campers but snipers are meant to control maps in undisclosed areas.

I understand what your saying, that does sound like quite a problem for stealth play, obviously a big thing like a speciality can’t be removed from the game, and nerfing it would make it useless unfortunately, so all I can offer you is my ideas of how to counter it game-play wise.

Firstly, I believe the mark on you will only be seen by the victim and not the whole team, so for a while you should not harbour too much aggression, if you stay close to your teams spawn (if possible) or have a friend watch your back, you should be able to hold out for a few kills, and then move up. Although this constant need for re-positioning and watching your back is annoying, it does reflect a more realistic battle scenario, with a powerful weapon you would naturally be a high value target. So this addition means you will simply have to play more strategically. Although I have a feeling nemesis will be one of the less used perks, and for the first few weeks/months it wont be available, so you will have variety until then. Other than that, choose targets wisely, someone with nemesis will most likely have the armour to fit it. So remember and avoid those targets and always watch the other snipers.

Yeah it doesn’t really look like it last that long. I doubt too many people will be using this specialization. I’m more worried about the stability one. It already looks like it’s easy to snipe when getting shot at since you don’t get knocked out of scope now. It looks like your scope only moves a very little bit when getting shot at and that’s without the stability mod. With the stability mod it probably doesn’t move at all. This is going to make sniping way too easy.

I know, and understand that. My concern, however is they will still know the general vicinity of where you are.

It plays more against snipers, as I’ve said. And, even if it lasts only five seconds it gives the killed player enough of an idea of where you are to still hound you. Like I said, it’s nothing that will prevent me from getting the game. It’s just a bit of an annoyance.

Being the Sniper, I’m usually hounded to begin with and this will make things worse for when I try to relocate.

Five seconds, in Halo is a lot of time to be honest.

The trail of the sniper round doesn’t bother you then? Ya know, the thing that points out EXACTLY where you are, to everyone on the map who can see it?

The trail is not a huge factor, simply due to from my personal experience most not being able to locate me simply from the trail. The have an idea of where I am or was, however their guess is limited. And, also the marker will appear above me as I move as well helping them decipher where I may have gone after firing said shot.

Halo has never been about stealth sniping, the camera points in the shooters direction, there’s a trail leading to the sniper and the sniper is bloody loud. I highly doubt Nemesis is going to be too much of a problem, especially as there’re other mods that will reduce the amount of people choosing it anyway.

EDIT: It’s also a piece of data that’s only available for a few seconds, and only then after you’ve shot them (in the face or otherwise).

Im still concerned about pv i think its still op even though it got nerfed but that wont change and ill be using it even if its nerfed for obvious reason to catch people off guard

6 seconds isn’t enough time to locate a Sniper expecially on a BTB map.

Compared to all of the other support packages this deems to be one of the most useless. Don’t expect everyone and their grandma to be using it.

The only problem with nemesis is the fact it shows where you’re going.

You realize that once you snipe me, I was gonna come and kill you no matter what?

It really is useless i mean revenge is sweet and all but there are better support mods like stability or tracking ordinance drops everywhere

I doubt Nemesis will be too much of a problem. There’s bound to be a few players using it to compensate for their lack of ability but overall there’s much more useful things to use.

I wasn’t aware that it is only temporary. It will be a bit annoying in 4v4 though
