Everyone should be able to see where this thread is going by now. I was watching the video in the bulletin today when I noticed the medal does, indeed exist in Halo 4. You hear Jeff shout it during the Sticky Detonator Preview.
The first strike medal, I have no issue with it. Though, I do believe it’s a pointless medal that shows the inevitable. I don’t believe many people care if they had the first kill. Now, on to the point of this post.
Is it going to be a top medal, or is it not? Personally, I think it should not be a top medal. Why? Because it’s like that spam message no one likes to receive. It overshadows more impressive, and otherwise more important medals on the top medals section of the after-game report.
While I do sometimes feel excited about getting the first kill (usually if something cool happens for me to get it), I agree that it shouldn’t be a top medal. There are far cooler things that happen in almost any given match than just getting the first kill.
I know, and that’s a big reason why I don’t think it should be there. A First Strike is going to happen every game, however Perfections and Various Spress do not. It always annoys me to see myself dominate in a game, only for one of my top medals to be overwritten by the other team’s First Strike.
EVERYONE must know if I get the first kill. Doesn’t matter if they get a perfection, an overkill exterm or an unfrigg. My first strike is more important. Hah… Always made me laugh in reach. The first strike medal towers above all. But seriously, 343i don’t do that.
It shouldnt be a top medal, someones going to get it regardless of whether it required any skill or not. And I dont know if weve seen the after game stats screen yet, but honestly I dont care what medals other people get I want to see my medals, kills, death, k/d, any progress towards comendations assuming they return, xp/spartan points, things of that nature all on one screen, without having to switch between screens. Then on other screens they should have top medals, and top stats of other players.
You can override first strike in reach. i have done it a few times. get more than one extermination and it wont be there. get 10 or more revenge or avenger medals. get a killtac and two types of sprees. all of which will override a first strike. i know i am saying like its easy(which trust me i know it isnt) but is it really that big of a deal? if you did great in a match then you did great. if it honestly concerns you why not just ask for the mvp thing back from halo 3 since most people who worry about top medals really just want to show up as mvp. im not trying to be mean about any of this. im just saying.
> No. I mean, there’s always ( at least) one awarded each game.
personally i think there should be a medal for first kill and one for last kill. yes they are a bit pointless but it is fun to trash talk back and forth between your friends about how you got the first kill. i play swat so it happens alot.
> I don’t have a problem with first strike, it’s just another medal.
I think what people’s problem with it is that it overtakes other metals when its a pretty usless metal to begin with. I didn’t know that, because I don’t play Reach hardly ever.
First Strike medal is ok to have, but it should never be a Top Metal. How can First Strike tower over the giants like Overkill+, Extermination, Perfection, etc.? It makes no sense!
