You’re very sweet for saying that haha but I certainly did have my share of butt whooppings during my climb. Particularly in Diamond 6. It just didn’t go down. If this was Halo 5 I’d probably still be struggling in Diamond 6 today.
I’ve already decided I won’t be doing the ranked grind again until season 2, when more of my friends are likely to jump back into infinite. In part my decision is due to the vagueness surrounding changes to ranked, in addition to not having something new to enjoy with it (e.g. playlist, map, weapons, gametype rotation). The grind up is just not worth it to me in of itself. Climbed to Onyx once, won’t do it again until there’s a better reason to.
Been playing halo since the beginning but it’s becoming a joke. You can’t release a game with such minimal content and expect it to be enjoyable forever. They desync, the pc users crashing, the rank system that even with this reset is still a joke especially the fact that the team is constantly penalized in rank for teammates quitting or crashing…
When you play ranked it’s usually slayer this last two weeks. You only have three maps to play from which becomes extremely boring especially when slayer is so overplayed. But why bother leaving skirmish game types in when playing for objectives is detrimental to your rank. Let’s face it, you’re only ranking up with a good kda performance typically. The fact halo doesn’t respect wins in a rank system is a joke. Why do we care what are individual slaying power is if we aren’t working to win the skirmish game. I see people defending halos choice for their rank system but you are missing the genuine love for why people enjoy playing halo ranked matchmaking. It’s a TEAM game which is being forgotten with this CSR/MMR nonsense.
FYI I’ve been up to level 49 in halo 2, I’ve been up to onyx in both solo/duo and open in halo infinite. My experience is at the top with the other halo veterans who have owned Xbox since day 1…
don’t let my spelling/grammar typos fool you.
If 343 continues down this path, halo will never emerge from the shadows of call of duty/apex/fortnite/Cs-GO. Only the professional teams and the LAN tournaments are currently keeping this game relevant right now. If 343 continues to neglect what is truly wrong with their games content and operation then even someone like myself who loves halo more than any other game, will move along for good as this is clearly halos last big chance to make a splash in the bountiful gaming community.
I feel its incosistent among players or to some extent maybe I am an exception to the rule when it comes to only KD and performance mattering. It definitely does, no denying that but in my experience winning is the only way ill gain any rank. Losing any match, no matter how close the game was or how well I do is an automatic loss of CSR. Once got a frenzy and went 25 / 9 with significant obj points but because i was on the losing team i still got dinged. I wasnt expecting to gain anything for losing, but with my performance I thought my bar would just stay where it was already at.
If I win, I gain, if I lose, I decrease.
The part where KD and performance comes in is simply how much I gain or lose after a match. So at this point I’m resigned to the fact if I want any significant progression, I need to win and perform well every time. No room for off days or bad matches or freedom to frag out and disregard objectives. Gotta be on that A game at all times.
In a way I guess you can say I’m experiencing the ideal system, but all the stuff with KD really hits hard after winning a string of matches and gaining some good progress, just to suddenly lose it all in one or two matches against some high diamonds.
