If social matches impact your hidden MMR I can’t imagine how this event will impact everyone’s.
It’s already painful enough that there are challenges that occasionally show up that require you to get a few wins in Tactical Slayer. I have a bad feeling about this ![]()
Is the event live yet?
There’s no Event live right now, but they go live at the Tuesday reset which always brings a new weekly reward and store items. So, I would suggest check then.
I’m ok with that if they’re afk, but if they’re playing they keep strafing, jumping and shooting me first ![]()
In tactical slayer being good just doesn’t mean you will do good, because:
- Your ping is very important, since being 1-2 seconds behind means you are already dead before you can even see the enemy. The ping problems are the biggest for Africa, Asia and Australia+New-Zealand, but with Tactical Slayer even Europe has problems with this. I am from Europe and i play almost every match on EU-servers, but for some reason almost all tactical slayer matches are on US-servers…
- People with a state of the art pc will have a clear advantage over people with an average pc or an xbox because of the higher FPS. In a normal match you can overcome that if you are the better player due to your better aiming consistancy or movement, but in tactical slayer the first shot is often the kill…
- Aim Assist doesn’t seem to help, but hurt in tactical slayer. I play on controler and while i don’t notice much Aim Assist in most matches, in tactical slayer i notice the AA the most, but not in a good way. Often when i clearly aim at the head (my crosshairs are at the top of their head), my shots get redirected to the body by the AA. It is realy frustrating.
And on top of that, there are just to many wallhackers in tactical slayer.
Odd, because I play in Asia but I don’t get any ping or desync problems.
Yea go in play a game than go back to Elden ring. I don’t mind that.
Keep your expectations low, and you’ll never be disappointed. Given the nature of swat its gonna be hard, on top of having to deal with all the cheaters that plague that mode.
My concern is the Stalker, Sidekick and Mangler is going to be OP when using a controller.
I think it should be a combination of both
It goes live at 1 today
That’s an interesting point. I monitored my server connections for over 100 games after the geo filter patch and I can confirm that the servers used do vary between Quick Play and Ranked however this isn’t necessarily by location. I will do the same again to monitor Team Tactical, however as this is a global playlist I can’t imagine they would force us on to US servers more often than the do in Quick Play and Ranked (which is approx 15-20% of games).
Not me…never liked swat aka tactical Slayer so not going to play it. Going to concentrate on MCC challenges for now.
It’s going to depend what the challenges are. Get 5 back smacks or 25 melee would be dumb as well, things like that should never be encouraged in swat - so I fully expect it from 343i. Or weapon specific challenges and then we cant find the weapon (like get 5 commando kills but then you just get stalker rifle or br swat for 5 straight games. On the plus side - swat games are always fast. Longest is usually 7-8 minutes on launch site where a normal slayer game on launch site can go the full 12 minutes fairly regularly.
Anyway - if my silver 2 friend can do decent in swat when he plays with me - 85% of the community can do it too. Don’t make excuses. Seriously he stinks, don’t get me wrong, he bleeds out still, but he can do well too.
And if you want some tips…
- pre shoot around corners (fire as you are about to strafe around corners)
- don’t stay exposed when fighting, try to limit how much you are exposed
- know the map, you likely are only going to get 1-2 shots off before dying, know where it is likely your enemy is
- hold position when spawn trapping, nothing worse than someone pushing too far and letting them spawn behind to get an easy double kill to enemies who are facing other direction
- jump/crouch/slide to make yourself less predictable
- dont go to the same spot over and over if you are struggling
- live fire top tower can literally pin everything down except the tunnels and A spawn, let them come to you
- dont reload your weapon if you have over half clip
- watch and learn your enemies - most people don’t adapt and will just do the same thing over and over and over - even good players. You should be able to know their basic movements and what they like to do before the game is half over.
- streaks come and go, just because you’re 0-4 doesn’t mean you can’t end 12-4. It’s swat, I only need like 5 seconds to go on a killing spree at any given moment. Even when you’re down 44-49, it’s not over.
- Turn your network ping on - I can guess how much leeway I have in shots based on the ping (30 or less, It’s my game to win, 40-70 - some caution, 70-100 - lots of caution and have to time shots instead of free firing, 100+ - probably not going to be #1 on the team unless everyone is struggling or we are playing on Europe server for some reason - hopefully the European is on my team with his 20 ping.
Your friend isn’t Silver 2 if you’re playing together and he’s doing good
I have no problems with SWAT, I can play it just fine (not great but I’m not bad)
It is my friends who I am worried about, the way you progress in this game is not casual friendly at all…maybe read the OP before commenting?
In all fairness, when controller players are forced into playing against mouse and keyboard players, it’s not that fair in games like SWAT.
What makes it worse is controller players on the Series X seem to have barely any aim assist whatsoever. I’m not complaining since I’m fairly decent at the gamemode, but it does kinda suck
False
“Series X seem to have barely any aim assist whatsoever” this is so laughable.
The aim assist is the lowest it’s ever been in a halo game. However, I got used to it after about 3-4 months of playing so there’s definitely a learning curve when it comes to aiming on console.
All that really needs fixing is the deadzone controllers. They’re largely responsible for the crappy aim experience.
Like it’s a night and day experience between MCC and Infinite. I’ll even pull up the reddit post talking about. Really interesting stuff.
