Concept: Halo fractured timelines

Was playing Ruby’s rebalance for CE and got an idea Fractured modes sort of like the boons in firefight, these are alternate timelines of the campaign you would select at start of a run or level. each one would do something different.

///Mod that inspired this idea.

CE fractures

ODST’s and ravens

Info: adds ODST’s, ODST flood, and Fire team raven to the game also adds downed falcons and a drivable falcon to some levels.

Pure infestation

Info: adds CE versions of the pure forms, flood grunts, flood jackals, and the jugernaught.

Combined arms.

info: revamps the allied assault sections of silent cartographer and Assault on control room, adds marines to two betrayals where at the start the marines control the control room. Adds Halo ODST erra emplaced turrets to secured areas

Marines can now drive vehicles like the hog and tanks, in fact the first tank you run into has a marine in it.

Orion project complete

Jonson has his Orion armor, and can not die in missions. instead of throwing grenades he will fire off micro missiles, he always has a sniper rifle or needler minigun.(digsite required)

Covenant elite

Adds future gameplay elements to the covenant, this includes the ability for the player to pick up the fuel rod gun.

Expanded armory

Adds, cut weapons and new weapons to the campaign, example in assault on the control room you will find the flamethrower, in silent cartographer you will see a marine/orion soldier with a needler minigun, covenant spawn with gravity rifles, grunts may some times use plasma rifles, and the new covenant shotguns are added.

Also adds new vehicles, the stealth tank spawns in assault on the control room and 2 betrayals.

Linda in the flesh

player is never alone an AI controlled combat ally will be in every mission this is Linda she will have a sniper rifle in the early levels in the late levels she will have a shotgun.

Brute forces

Adds brutes, skirmishers, and engineers to the enemy list, with unique flood forms for the skimrishers and brutes if you have pure infestation on.

Sparks supplies

Allows one to pick up and use sentinel beams, adds two new sentinel types protector sentinels and enforcers, protectors have less HP but a higher damage knock back beam weapon(yes you can pick it up)

Each facture has a score multiplier attached to it, depending on if it makes the game easier or harder example expanded armory makes the game harder so has a 2x multiplier as covenant have a lot more weapons while combined arms makes the game easier by having marines be smarter, this one has a multiplier of -0.25x

Above are just the minor fractures these don’t change much sure with all of them on CE would be a completely different game with more complex features and events but they are nothing compared to the main fractures, the alternate levels. These are picked at the start of a run only and swap out current levels with alt versions of them. example ideas.

ALT LEVELS

Cartographer assault
info: alt to the silent Cartographer, starts with A 4 pelican assault on a forerunner structure, with Kestrels and falcons in support. Banshees quickly blow one of the Pelicans out of the air as the beach landing happens 3 pelicans taking off one of which giving covering fire as the beach assault happens.

This version is a more combined arms focused version of the assault it always has combined arms on, and ODST. in the mission you will push up to the Cartographer room with the marines not having them just sit there on the beach, once there 2 of the pelicans will return to drop off supplies as you move to open the locks.

Breaching the cartographer has a lot more hunters and more situations where you see marines alive and helping you. Though once it is activated the marines still end up in a fight for their lives, as you head up it is almost exclusively stealth elites, jackals, and grunts that you run into. The stealth jackals even using UNSC weapons.

The mission ends with you getting on the pelican though this time you are not alone.

Changes to the next mission: you will start with 3-5 marines depending on difficulty.

Each mission would have a more complex version see SPV3 for insperation, these will either add lore info, or alternate events. An example… being two betrayals alt version where you start by holding the control room with a group of marines, odsts and other survivors while Echo419 and another pelican move in to pick up the survivors. This version has a more complex terrain new combat encounters and a corresponding assault on the control room with a combined arms multiple stealth tanks and scorpions attack on the facility.

Fraction missions can also have different lore implications example on the fracture version of the MAW you can save Echo 419 (these are not canon they are alt time lines) though she still can’t pick you up, this changes the ending as well. where cortana states “Only use and echo-419 as far as I can tell.”

Another thing fractures can do is allow canon missions to be added as well, example missions based on events from halo the flood where you play as a marine.

Sorry if this is just rambling this idea is basicly an optional mode with tweaks to completely change the gameplay. Including alt versions of the campaigns themselves.

I feel like you should be pitching these to actual modders than here, seeing as 343 is taking a step back from actually providing content for MCC, but supporting MCC with community tools. If anything, 343 does need to focus their efforts and resources to saving Infinite from the brink, so this might just get buried and forgotten.

If anything, if 343 allows us to host a modded campaign in CGB, it will have the same effect or better.

You do know the MCC team and infinite team are different groups right?

Who’s to say resources aren’t being pulled from MCC? In everyway, MCC is entering maint mode.

And idk if you’re silly enough to even suggest that 343 is leaving a sizable team on MCC when they’re focusing on Infinite’s content lifespan. That’s just even more wasteful resource allocation.

More calling you out because you are implying they are taking everyone off MCC and that jsut isn’t how things work on something that still has some content to come.

gonna be honest, this feels like content modders should (and likely already are going to) make, rather than 343.

would much rather 343 pours their focus on restoring as much Digsite content as possible, alongside fixing whatever bugs they can. (with luck, the more straightforward Digsite content can become fully usable in game without modding, like maps or expanded weapon options)
