Compromise idea for the store

So I think we can all agree on the issues with the store:

  • Everything is way too expensive
  • There is terrible FOMO with weekly and daily bundles - making the lack of FOMO in the BP pointless
  • We cannot buy pieces individually - they must be purchased in bundles

There is more, but these are what I want to address.

Quite simply, I think there should be a catalog of all selling items. There could be a few exceptions such as holiday-related event items and obviously BP and event items would not be sold, but otherwise, all other items are available to be brought individually (except shoulders come in pairs) and at all times.

However, bundles are still available in daily and weekly rotations. The difference is that bundles are cheaper in comparison to their current price and compared to the total cost of buying each piece individually.

For example, a bundle may include a helmet, a helmet attachment, shoulders, chest, knees, visor and coating. Let’s say, the helmet, shoulders (again, sold as a pair), chest and visor are 2 dollars each while the knees, attachment and coating are one dollar each when sold individually. In total, that is 11 dollars. However, the bundle may appear in the storefront one day and would be sold for a reasonable price of 6 dollars - the same price of a Smash Bros DLC character (to give you an idea of how that is a generous price for the companies).

The bundles are a way to offer a deal for users rather being the sole means of selection of items. Otherwise, players can select whatever they want without fear of missing out on getting the items. There is still FOMO for bundle sales, but not for getting armor at all.

Maybe offer a feature where players can see what bundles items belong to and favorite them so if there is an upcoming bundle they may want, the waypoint app can notify them when the bundle is on sale.

And since this is a feature that would take a while to implement, 343 could take advantage of it by slowly releasing a few items out at a time to the catalog to encourage players to check back (though, for clarification, most items would not LEAVE the catalog.)

It is obviously not ideal, but I think it is a good compromise between players and company.

I do want to say that there ARE items I want to buy, but the prices are so outrageously large that I am 100% convinced they just have to come down and I refuse to buy anything until they do.

Thoughts?

For my money, the best way to run a microtransaction store (in any game) is to open the entire store for the season and allow for piecemeal purchasing across the board. In Infinite you could immediately increase cosmetic value by unlocking coatings and visors to work across all armor cores, vehicles, and weapons instead of being core, weapon, or vehicle specific.

An example of the storefront would be the weekly bundle would drop at $20, but say you only want the helmet? Helmets in the shop for $5 (as a for instance). Piecemeal pricing would be slightly higher per unit as they’re losing out on bundle revenue, but it would increase transactions overall as people could simply buy what they want to go towards their build.

Could also do a build your own bundle thing, where any 5 piece set toy assemble comes in at $20, which would save $5 on buying individually, and bring back the target revenue of selling a bundle in the first place, but now it’s a bundle the player wants.

I realize that pricing is a popular sticking point with Infinite, but when compared to its major competitor its actually not off the mark at all for MOST of what’s come through the shop (a few things have been laughably expensive).

Or stop trying to prey on people with FOMO.
Have all armor sold in the store be permanent fixtures and can be individually bought.

Every week, certain pieces go on sale.

That’s still FOMO and not different from what I said.

No, FOMO is if you can’t even attain the piece unless its put on sale.
What I suggested is that all pieces are in the store permanently and weekly discounts.

That’s FOMO. People would have a “fear of missing out” of a sale. That is why sales happen at all. Business 101. And I suggested in OP that no item goes away save maybe for holiday-related things. Bundles would act as sales. We are mostly on the same page.

Again, from the OP:

all other items are available to be brought individually (except shoulders come in pairs) and at all times.

I am not trying to argue or anything, I just think there was a miscommunication.
