Comprehensive list of core player feedback for Halo Infinite

The aiming in this game is in a really bad spot. The sensitivity is off its either too fast or too slow. And the aim assist is too strong it will snap on a target and then the moment you get shot or the target barley steps out of the reticle the aim assist “unsnaps” and causes you to lose your aim and causes you to overshoot big time. This is 99% of where my deaths come from

I played some rounds and the game fells just a Call of Duty game with Halo Skin Pack.
The Gamepass is -Yoink!- and doesn´t belong to Halo.
I would like to see a Multiplayer like the old ones where i can earn my skins without using any real money or do some stupid task´s where i get 100 ep per game.

And Don´t delete this post This is my Personal Opinion!!!

Alright, hopefully someone can help me out here. I didn’t play the Tech preview earlier this year.

I understand people are saying the progression is slow, but I am seeing literally ZERO progression. After I finish matches, it shows I am completing challenges and being awarded XP, but then the bar above says 0/0 XP.

We are supposed to be in Season 1, but mine says Season 0 Heroes of Reach. Do I have to buy a BattlePass to activate Season 1 or something? Or am I caught in some glitch? I am enjoying this game and I no people are saying the progress is slow, but I’ve played for about 5-6 hours and my XP bar still says Zero! TIA

Long time Halo fan here… since downloading and playing this a couple things are holding this title back. Mind you, I haven’t fully gone through it all - however, I know a good Halo title when I play it.

  1. Controller/Aiming needs to be reworked. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it mentality needs to be applied here. Why the drop off when you had two previous Halo titles under your belts with no real systemic issues? Get back to that ASAP.!

  2. Overall movement/jog speed is too slow. The elephant in the room is MW 2019 and it’s movement of character speed… at the very least being a huge super solider requires you to move quickly a la MW with double time perk speed. Quake had this - hell DOOM 2016 and Eternal have this… why can’t Halo? They NEED to find a happy medium between MW 2019 and Vanguard movement speed IMO.

  3. Overall menu and title screens… sometimes less is more! In this case, there is way too much going on and it’s in way too many sub-menus within larger sub-menus. Most of what made Halo great in the past titles, were straight the the point menus and settings… no over inflation of the like… things we don’t need to have/see get rid of it.

  4. 1-ONE- grenade for ALL GAMEPLAY. Pretty straight forward here, pick up and carry only one type of nade at a time. They can eventually work as a somewhat power weapon in the future similar to the guns… nade spam is ridiculous in this title.

So far those are my biggest issues… aiming and movement are what I believe is holding Halo back. They need to get with the times or they’ll never take back the crown so to speak.

I just want Halo to win again…

The aiming needs some tweaks. I don’t have as much time as some people on here to play, so I haven’t checked out all the settings yet. It might be that there’s a combo of setting changes that could help the aiming issue, so a little video package or FAQ on how to tweak settings that some may be missing, could solve some of the issues. Or they can tweak them on their side.

The sandbox could use a little more TLC. I like it, but some of the weapon placement could be tweaked in BTB and things like that. More BR’s less Bulldogs, I’ve noticed that there are area’s that never get pushed in BTB because the weapon placement doesn’t entice players to those areas. Not a terrible issue, but I think BTB could feel a little bigger with some small tweaks. I have only had a few games on the smaller maps, so I can’t really comment on those as much.

Overall having fun with it.

It has been mentioned before but controller stick sensitivity (specially the camera) is just bad in its current state. Yes, even on PC, a big handicap considering my mouse with default settings doesnt have this problem at all.

Currently have the sensitivity at 10 with the acceleration maxed and it feels extremely slow, compared to a 8-9 in both H5 and MCC and its nowhere as sluggish as it is in Infinite with the same settings.

This needs to be addresed asap having crossplay in mind

I solved the issue of controller feeling sluggish/slow by increasing the aim acceleration to max (5), reducing the inner/axial deadzones as much as possible before I got drift (1.5 for me), and increasing the max input threshhold to max (15).

It feels more or less OK and somewhat similar to the MCC with those settings.

Agree with all of your points.

in addition I would like to see more rewards fro past game achievements. The Halo world has a ton of cool achievements, so there should absolutely be more unlocks for some other achievements.

I also hope there is a Commendation system as a way to earn unlocks.

This whole thread slaps, and I couldn’t agree more with it. Especially in terms of the current battlepass, and XP gains system. As well as their now recent changes, with the per match completion of 50 XP.

It genuinely feels like they’re more focused on short term profit, by holding customization hostage in the battlepass. And by stunting progression to as painfully slow as possible, they can goad people into spending money, to get that shiny helmet they want.

Not to mention yeah, no one is playing objectives, unless it’s in ranked. It’s totally destroying any real drive to play the game, which really sucks. I really hope they can actually show, they care about the fanbase. And give a balance between battlepass, XP, and challenges, that don’t hurt the player experience especially in matches.

Don’t forget that it isn’t a new concept to Halo to introduce gameplay related content that can be obtained for real life money. In this instance, it simply the case that these items are more clearly advertised compared to many of the older Halo games and that the content that is obtained for real world money is a far larger proportion of the total amount of content.

However, I do agree that the amount of payed content is overwhelming and it would be preferable if the player could turn on a setting that filters out all of the payed content that hasn’t been unlocked by the player. In addition to that, it’s also a bit disappointing that a player could simplify the process of completing the battle passes by using a credit card or opening the wallet.

this list is not comprehensive
there is no mention of region select

the multiplayer has always been a free addition the campaign. now you buy the campaign and can play the bones of the multiplayer while they try and sell you massively up marked, restrictive versions of anything they possibly can. its ludacrisly predatory behavior

none of the people I’ve played halo with in the last 17 years have once said “lets play capture the flag”, oddball, ect. i dont have access to the background metrics like the devs, but i would bet that team slayer (deathmatch) is the most popular game type by far. the decision to restrict ALL playlists to grab bag can only be financially motivated. i wouldnt be surprised to see individual match selection on sale in the store before long.

Armour cores should not be a part of the customisation system, no matter what the lore says. If the armour sets in Reach weren’t restricted by armour core types, then this game shouldn’t have it either. Plus, the bots aren’t restricted to core types, and they are in the same damn game. On top of this, the Reach armour pieces (mostly the shoulders) do not include the character specific ones that are included in the armour sets (Carters Left Shoulder, Emiles Right, etc.). Why? They are some of the coolest shoulder armours and I can’t have them equipped with a Mk.Vb helmet? A little bit backwards don’t you think? Considering Halo reach did all of this correctly and it worked straight off the bat.

Some smaller annoyances:

  • Pre-search timer feels really very slow. Like Super slow. This could be brought down to the original timer and it would feel a lot better.
  • On the topic of pre-search timer, please let me navigate to a different screen after I press search. I HATE how it cancels the search when I navigate to the customise tab (before finding a match). Theres a button you press for a reason, so keep the cancel command to the button.
  • Have the option to mute AI voice lines separately from announcer voice lines. Same goes for Spartan Chatter, its really annoying and it puts people off when playing.
  • There are some bus with settings being applied. By that I mean a lot of settings don’t stay applied after restart. Settings like spartan chatter and other audio related things.
  • Options to skip pre-game cutscenes would be nice. They are, again, very slow and aren’t of any importance besides showing off everyones identical armour pieces.

I’ve been saying for weeks prior to the Beta that all of these things would be a huge issue for everyone. And look where we are. I’m still ultra disappointed with the customisation system, as are a lot of people. It’s dumfounding that they can’t get it right, even when given a template to copy from. Let’s hope they get their act together and give the community what they want from the game.

Halo infinite reset my weekly challenges sometime in the last hour. Do you know how frustrating that is when I was on the challenge to get the weekly ultimate!!! I had to complete 12 more matches and was done with weekly challenges. Now I have to start all over. What is up with that man!!!

This is an awesome list, and here is my own list (not as detailed) that maybe has a few things you may agree with:

  • No Player Collision (I know you’ve all experienced going through enemies and getting totally disoriented)
  • No Friendly Fire (encourages bad habits, spam and anti-skillful playing)
  • Heavy vehicles (the whole point of BTB) never spawning, or if they do it’s with seconds left
  • Terrible, irredeemably bad menus with too many layers on every facet of the game and horizontal scrolling (are you kidding me)
  • Radically bad HUD for no reason, not even an option to use the classic HUD layout and bullet counter (plus grenades not being shown side by side? Really?)
  • Player outlines are really dumb and they detract from the good looking armor which is the whole reason you removed the Red vs Blue team colors to begin with. Just remove them from the game and give us names/service tags above our team mates.
  • No map interactions (think opening gates on High Ground or Zanzibar, lowering bridges, teleporters, conveyor belts, etc)
  • BTB maps are very bad for ground vehicles, no wide open space for them to do their thing. Feels like you’re stuck on an F1 racetrack.
  • Tiny number of emblems and can’t even customize them like you used to (Where’s my damn Valkyrie emblem 343)
  • Motion tracker range is too damn small, and your solution was to extend it by a measly 4 meters in BTB only? So now we can’t build up a sense of spacial awareness when we see a dot on the radar because it’s a different distance based on the playlist?
  • No overall military rank and no way to earn XP for it outside of challenges even if it was in the game
  • Only general playlists of “quick play, BTB, or Ranked”? Are you serious?
  • No blood, what is this a children’s series now?
  • Competitive Ranks are back to the medal tiers of Iron, Bronze, Silver, etc instead of the 1-50 system that was in Halo 2, 3, 4(just on the website) and MCC. Why? And one would hope that whichever system you use, the rank should be per-playlist rather than being in the same tier regardless of Lone Wolves, Doubles, TS, etc.

Amazing compilation. A few additions:

Add Player collision. Friendlies mindlessly sprinting through me as i throw grenades or as I’m about to land the last headshot in a BR duel. Enemies phasing through each other as I’m trying to focus on and at least trade with one of them. Phasing through enemies as I try to melee, then getting assassinated. None of these should be happening in games of Halo. Please just put collisions back in across the board. I don’t know where 343 is getting the info from that the player base is split on this. Its a terrible experience and honestly is my #1 gripe with the game, as I can ignore customization for a solid gameplay experience.

The Assault Rifle is still too ubiquitous. There is very little reason to use the precisions weapons in the game other than at medium-long range (where Long would be the Stalker Rifle and Very Long would be the Sniper) because the Assault Rifle is just so dominant at close to medium range. And even if it has a lower TTK due to accuracy at medium-long range, in a 1v1 it is too effective at knocking people out of scope. The only weapon that feels like it can contest the AR within its range is the Needler. Please scale back the ARs TTK to leave room for other weapons in the sandbox.
