complex - i don't get it

can someone please explain to me why this is a good map for 4v4 slayer? it must be because everyone votes for it yet all i’ve seen on the internet is people criticizing it.

camo dmr camping on it is easy

Just kidding but I do hate the map and how only the one top of one building is relevant

im guilty of camping inside and on top of the building and i feel -Yoink- when did it but its the only way to really win on that map.

Haven is the only decent 4v4 map in this game. And thats DECENT at best. $4$i have NO CLUE what a proper map is.

I think 343i gave us Complex to change up the pace from the CQC of maps like Haven. Because that’s how it feels in SWAT. However, 343i didn’t realize the OP power of DMR+AC and just how gamebreaking it can be.

So in short: not too bad in SWAT, but broken in Slayer/CTF due to poor balancing. Hopefully the TU can fix those problems and turn Complex from Camplex into a breath of fresh air.

It seems designed for Dominion, yet…it cannot be forged.

yeah, its alright for SWAT 4v4 but when an entire team in 4v4 Inf Slayer camps inside the central structure and your team is a bunch of disorganized strangers attacking individually its literally impossible to overtake the other team. no competition at all.

It’d be an ok map if it weren’t for those ghosts…

anyway the top 3 maps I seen so far are Haven>Adrift>Complex

OK, I’ll be the contrarian and explain why I think Complex has some appeal. It’s because it offers players a variety of roles to play. You can snipe, camp and DMR, drive a ghost and splatter people, or hang inside buildings for CQB. It offers variety, plain and simple. I also have another theory about map making in general. Over the years I’ve noticed that people prefer maps that make some sort of sense as compared to structures they see IRL and/or are highly symmetrical. Haven for example has no IRL analog and it isn’t clear what purpose such a structure could ever serve, but it’s highly symmetrical and easy to keep track of where your are at. Complex is not symmetrical, but it looks like any number of industrial parks that people have seen and seems to make some sense as a structure, so people are comfortable in that environment. But, as I said, the reason a lot of people like it is that it affords them their preferred play style.

The only time I’ve enjoyed complex is when I am on blue team in a game of CTF, being on red is utter rubbish.
I could see 1-Flag working well on it. But that’s about it.

Meh… I know there’s lots of support for a 1-flag gametype, but I don’t really think that it would work on Complex. Complex is more slayer focused than CTF.

Don’t really play flood

Yes, which is why it was better with Slayer Pro with no Armor Abilities.
