Complete DLC Playlist

It is really awesome to see over 3000 players playing the champions bundle playlist right now but the only thing I’m worried about is how long will it stay this big? I mean it will go away eventually?? I want to buy it but I also want to play the maps in the normal playlists.

So 343 make a DLC playlist containing all the Halo 4 DLC and make it possible that everyone that owns some of the DLC is able to play the playlist but will only see the maps they can play. This is way easier than the way it is now.

This would be great because every single player that has some of the DLC can just look for DLC matches in this playlist and will only be able to play the DLC they have.

Agreed. And we need to see all DLC in other gametypes more often. It is highway robbery.

this would be pretty cool. I don’t have all the dlc, but this would be a great incentive to buy the others (I was disappointed in crimson and skipped the others, besides champions).

Yes, please.

The only problem I see arising from this is that the playlist could contribute to splitting or even driving away the game population, and the map packs are designed to support different party sizes.

The Crimson/Majestic/Castle playlists have less than 400 players during peak hours, and they only require one DLC. An all-DLC-required playlist would have even fewer players.

Not only that, but each map pack contains different-sized maps. Imagine trying to play Monolith with 16 players, or Outcast with 8 players.

I guess none of you remember that the original playlists for the first 3 map packs had high population when they came out too?

He’s not saying all DLC required. You would only require any one of the dlc’s to play in his suggestion, it would just contain all the DLC.

as for the praty sizes I think 5v5 would work fine on small maps (maybe a litte crampt) and then as long as maps like shatter are objective only I think it would work out okay.

Regardless, rotating between a champions/majestic playlist and a crimson/castle playlist would work better than the current system… Maybe even two continual playlists but that might be a stretch.

I miss Skyline.

They have less than 400 because people want to play their favorite gametypes. So if that is the case why is it that they won’t make them more available in the other variants?

No this DLC playlist is ment to SUPPORT ALL DLC BUT IT WILL ONLY SHOW THE DLC YOU HAVE!

It would probably be in the company’s benefit to reduce the price of the older dlc for something like this. Of course thats really a decision from Microsoft because 343 really doesnt have much say on pricing.

That’s great. It. Still. Won’t. Work.

Majestic Maps were designed for roughly 2-4 players on a team. I’d say that the Champion Pack is 4-6 Players a Team. Castle and Crimson are more of a 6-8 member team.

You can’t have all the maps in the playlist because of that requirement. We would need two playlists for DLC, and I am absolutely against that.

damm…

They could split it into DLC Big Team and DLC Small Team (different names for small probably). Each would have objective gametypes as well as Slayer, the map system you mentioned.

Population would be tricky. Make it perhaps 5v5 for Small Team to fit the “smaller” of the Castle/Crimson maps, and then 8v8 for the others.

Thats the only way I could really see it happening, but I do like the idea where its not all DLC required, but it moves Crimson only users to more with Crimson, and so on.

Playlists:

It would be great if something like this were possible, although one playlist wouldn’t work that great IMO. I would split it like this:

Team DLC (4v4 Majestic + Bullseye)
Squad DLC (6v6 Crimson + Castle)
Edit: I’m not really sure where Day Break would fit in as its pretty small.

I would probably keep the first 2 voting slots for DLC maps and have the 3rd for on-disc and forge maps just to keep the experience fresh.

DLC Discounts:

It would also be nice to see 343 release all the DLC maps in one or two packs for a discounted price (discounted price in brackets):

Crimson + Majestic + Castle + Bullseye = 800*3 + 480 = 2880 (1800)

Or alternatively:

Majestic + Bullseye = 800 + 480 = 1280 (800)
Crimson + Castle = 800*2 = 1600 (1000)

Editted for clarity 08/22/13.

I agree that if there are two seperate playlists the smaller (majestic and bullseye) should be 4v4.

the second one (crimson and caslte) is harder because maps like shatter would work best with 8v8, but I think 6v6 is the safer bet because castle seems to have been optimized for 6v6 and wreckage and harvest play objective games fine at 5v5 so I’m sure 6v6 would be great.

This sounds perfect

Thats exactly what I was going to say. There should be two DLC playlists a Small Map one and a Large Map one.

They already put Regicide in Rumble Pit so that’s one less playlist. Now I’d like to see them merge BTIS and Skirmish. The two free spaces would allow them to create two permanent DLC playlists:

Squad DLC- 5v5
Majestic Pack, Bullseye Pack, Harvest, Daybreak, and Forge Island variants. Mix of Slayer and Objective gametypes. (Majestic pack, Bullseye Pack, and Forge Island required)

BTB DLC- 8v8
Crimson Pack, Castle Pack, and Forge Island variants. Mix of Slayer and Objective gametypes. (Crimson Pack, Castle Pack, and Forge Island required)

Well so far I have all the dlc accept the first one. I want the playlist but make it so you only need 1 or 2 dlc to play the at the least.

I was thinking about DLC playlists last night - I wonder if 343 might consider a permanent DLC playlist but rotate the map packs that a given, maybe every 2 weeks or so?

  • Week 1 & 2 - Crimson
  • Week 3 & 4 - Majestic
  • Week 5 & 6 - Castle
  • Week 7 & 8 - Bullseye
Or maybe even a weekly rotation, reducing the wait for those that miss the maps.
Just a quick example anyways, don’t know if anyone could expand/improve on that idea
