I’ve been going back and forth from Halo 5 to MCC and there’s a huge difference in the average player’s skill. Lower player population might have something to do with it, but Halo 5 is usually much more competitive than MCC matches, which I can dominate more frequently. Has anyone else experienced this between Halo games?
Sidenote: I have barely played any ranked MCC, but even comparing social playlists the skill difference exists.
I believe it has more to do with the speed of the game. You combine that with the movement mechanics and general “smallness” of maps in Halo 5, then you get a noticeable difference in skill between Halo 5 and the previous Halos. You have more ways to move around the maps quickly in Halo 5, decreasing time between engagements. Just think about what games would be like if you couldn’t climb on top of stuff, hover, sprint, and slide in Halo 5.
Menke recently said on Twitter that Halo 5 has a higher population than MCC, so that may also explain it.
I played some H2A recently on MCC and social games I was clearly playing people who were new to the game or hadn’t played in a while, but ranked matches were quite competitive.
