So nothing has changed about the competitive skill rank. The whole point of having a visible rank in game is to brag about it. All the competitive people loved that. No one will look at your rank on Halo Waypoint. That’s a joke. Put the Rank in the game so everyone is happy.
They are going to implement it after they have analyses its efficiency and the loopholes.
Patients pad-wan.
While I understand the negative side effects of a skill rank (such as showing people they suck horribly), it is really dumb to put it on Waypoint. As the OP said, nobody is going to look up that number. Only your friends who would even bother to visit Waypoint in the first place would look.
Again I understand the qualms of skill ranking but it should be an all-or-nothing affair, put it in the game or don’t bother with it at all.

They didn’t say anything about adding it to in game.
I thought the point of skill based ranks was getting matched up with similarly skilled players, not bragging rights…

So you admit the only reason to have it in game is to have bragging rights, yeah no comment.
> I thought the point of skill based ranks was getting matched up with similarly skilled players…
Apparently it’s already doing that with the invisible true skill system.

They didn’t say anything about not adding it to the game.
In fact when asked about it Frankie said “anything is possible.”
Franky eluded to the possibility of a visible CSR within the game. Nobody knows the likelihood just yet.

I thought they said something about it in the bulletin.
"
We are tracking all player skill data and while it will not be exposed in the game UI at launch, we have some ideas about how to give players access to that information, in a useful way, in the not-so-distant future."
ERMAHGERD!!!
It’s not displayed in game for a reason, though Frankie didn’t exactly say “No, never”. (Abuse of the system in broad terms).
It’s actually present in the game, just not viewable.
It WILL be viewable online through Waypoint.
If that’s not good enough and you’re so adamant about garbage MM ranks, please grow a pair and start playing Gamebattle on MLG or something. That or play an older Halo, or BloPS2 (Shudders)

No, I think you’ve got this wrong. I’m pretty sure at launch there won’t be any skill based matchmaking, but then early next year the CRS system will be updated into the game and that will be the “invisible” sill based system.

No. There will always be skill based matchmaking.
There will be a skill based ranking system a few months after launch. Shhhhh
> Franky eluded to the possibility of a visible CSR within the game. Nobody knows the likelihood just yet.
It says nothing about putting it in the game, only on Halo Waypoint. And yes having a visible Rank is for bragging rights and it gives you something to play for. Unlike Halo Reach when you play a game and win and get 1,000 credits, and the losing team gets 3,000 credits in a slot machine??? Halo 4 needs and in-game rank or it will lose all the competitve people just like Reach.
> I thought the point of skill based ranks was getting matched up with similarly skilled players, not bragging rights…
That’s the purpose behind TrueSkill, used in all playlists, which is used to match us up with similarly skilled players.
Visible skill based ranks, on the other hand, have a variety of uses such as;
- Increasing competition (Hence why ranked playlists were so competitive, some would argue to have always been the purpose behind making having them visible)
- Providing extra incentive to play (Like visible progression ranks)
- Providing extra incentive to improve
- Bragging rights (Like ALL visible stats, some armour, and progression ranks)
- etc
The reasons people want a visible skill based ranking system in the game varies from person to person; personally, I just want a few playlists to feature a visible skill based rank so that there will be a place in matchmaking to consistently get competitive matches.
It’s important for people to note that there are a variety of different reasons people would like them; some make the mistake of presuming that this isn’t the case.
> There will be a skill based ranking system a few months after launch. Shhhhh
The OP knows; he wasn’t talking about whether there was going to be one or not, but rather the visibility of it in-game.

Frankie on neogaf already confirmed you will be able to see it in-game, that you literally just have to leave War Games to view it and then two seconds later, you can into a match…
This is a great compromise.
Do people not know the definition of matchmaking, in other words matching like-skilled people.
Has nothing to do with them releasing a CSR system in a few months.
You will ALWAYS (from day 1) be matched against similar skill players, once your skill has been determined. (Also assuming the system works).

leave war games to view it? Confused.
