Competitive Ruined Fun

What happened to games being laid back fun? Why is that every game has to be pretending to be a sport? Everyone takes video games so damn seriously. Halo 5 is more apparent, with CSR B.S and the player base being super MLG posers. Why do I get graded in a video game for things I do and don’t do? It makes the game less fun, I don’t take Halo 5 seriously in any regard, but according to 343i, i must to enjoy myself. I kick back in my chair, trying to relax in Slayer, but I get spawned killed and lose terriably. Some of you will say something Moronic like: “Get good” or “You suck”, but in fact, I’m pretty good at 5, but I shouldn’t have to put on my “try-hard” pants to somewhat enjoy myself. I’m not please the competitive community, but please the casual community as well. I don’t like Warzone, and that shouldn’t be the only casual thing on Halo 5.

Customs is probably where you want to be then. Arena is clearly designed for the competitive mindset.

I don’t think anyone is making you care about losing games, your KDR, your CSR, etc.

We should get rid of the K/D ratio at least.

It’s because so many people complained about Halo 4 not being competitive enough that 343 reacted by doing a complete 180 and focusing on competitive play for Halo 5.

Don’t worry, though. They’re going to add more and more playlists over time and we should get a social slayer playlist in the near future.

But how will I play Slayer online
?

This is why I’m saying we desperately need more casual playlists other than Warzone. BTB would be great for you, I just wish it would get here sooner.

I find it to be just fine, competitive and close matches are the best. Don’t get me wrong, absolutely destroying the enemy and going 60-0 is fun as hell too, but not all the time.
This is fine.

They tailored the game to the 1% of the community, the “pro” players. They wanted Halo back in the eSports light, but honestly, I doubt it’ll happen. Console eSports are all but dead now, when you look at games like League and CSGO, and the massive number of viewers that they rake in for each tournament. I don’t feel that it was right to give the pro team such a heavy hand in how the game was shaped. They are the minority. They don’t exactly care if it’s fun, either. They play the game professionally, it’s their life.

What they essentially did was the take the PROOO MLG SUUPOR DUPOR TRYHURD playlists of previous games, and turned those into their own game.

Just because the game actually matches you with people similar to YOUR skill doesn’t make the game "ubertryhardesportsproscenerampagecarnage"fest.
If you count absolutely destroying the enemy team in every game as the only source of fun then well, I’m sorry bud, but you’re playing the wrong franchise.
Arena style gameplay is what made Halo what it is today, if its still a surprise to you… well raises shoulders

No, what I count as fun is not straining my neck leaning in 3 feet from the TV and having to put on my tryhard pants every time I just want to enjoy myself. I think you misunderstand me. I’m not mad at them for putting a bigger focus on competitive gameplay this time around, I’m mad at them for putting ALL of their focus into competitive gameplay. Like, it’s not too much to ask for Social playlists, is it?
