First of all, I realize this is no for everyone, but I know for a fact that there are many hardcore Halo players out there that love the competitive ranking system that was done away with after Halo 3. I don’t see a reason why it couldn’t be brought back in Halo 4. It would give people who wanted to feel more challenged a chance.
Simply make separate playlists like they had in Halo 2 and 3 and possibly give the people a little something for ranking up in the competitive playlists. In my opinion it definitely gave Halo a little edge over CoD and Battlefield when you actually had to have skill to rank up not just sit and play 24/7.
Again I know this is not for everyone, but it would appease a large crowd I’m sure. And if this has been brought up already I apologize. I just miss actually having to adapt my gameplay ability to continue ranking up.
I have to agree. Nothing was as satisfying as achieving your goal rank back in good ol’ days. I think they’re implementing a ranking system although I’m not sure if it’ll be the same one.

Yeah they’re adding it…but not in game, only on Waypoint.
It’s been said a million times you’re getting a CSR system in January…enough now. I am going to LMFAO when this system is put in, and you don’t have an option to play social matches. I have a feeling the CSR is going to rank you wether you like it or not. They have been tracking stats this whole time, for when it’s implemented you have a rank from day 1. What makes you guys think you’re going to have social playlists?
I suppose having it on waypoint is better than nothing; however, I really liked the fact that if you were say a 30 in whatever playlist you would get paired up with people who were roughly the same rank, which means similar skill levels. As they have it right now it’s usually a few average players in the game, then a few scrubs, then the guy who trounces everyone. It’s very rare that it’s a 1 difference for the win, and I can remember numerous games in H2 and H3 that would end 50-49. That’s a fun and exciting game, especially when you score that last kill.

343 already said that they are going to have a competitive ranking system to go along with playlists for that ranking system sometime early in 2013. They released that in an update 2 days before the launch of the game

Well, that’s good. I didn’t hear when it was going to be, but I’m glad they’re doing something. I just hope it’s very similar to the H2 ranking system. Where you have to win 3 games to rank up and lose once and drop 2 ranks. How awesomely frustrating. lol

There wouldn’t be 2 of every playlist. Generally just the more active ones such as Slayer, Snipers, Swat, FFA, and possiblly an objective minded one. Splitting it up like that would not be bad at all and it would be very similar to H3. If you like to play for fun stick to social playlists if you feel like getting your A kicked a little and trying to grind out a few ranks play the ranked playlists. It worked in H2 and H3 and they lasted way longer than Halo reach. All we need is CoD to take a year off of making a game and the online gaming community might be able to catch their breath and enjoy the games that are out now.
I heard Halo 3 may be taken off Xbox Live, is this true?
Also, I would love a rank system over Progession. . ESPECIALLY since Hitting Level 130* is WAY easier than maxing your “level” out on Halo: Reach.
Technically you only level 121 times, as everytime you hit a tenth level, like Level 50, once you pick a specialization, you are instantly leveled to 51, 61, 71, etc.

I haven’t heard anything about this, but the only reason I believe it would not be true is simply because of the achievements. Then again, I suppose Bungie does not care that much.
