Competitive Ranking System

What kind of competitive ranking system would you want to see in Halo Infinite? Do you think Microsoft should stick with their TrueSkill2 system for ranking players or try something new like an ELO system? In other words, should players be ranked based on overall team performance, or individual score?

Trueskill2 is not a ranking system; it’s a rating system, a system for determining skill. In all likelihood it will be in Halo Infinite because it is better at predicting match outcomes than the first Trueskill (the original Trueskill was used over Elo rating system because Trueskill was better suited for games with more than 2 players/teams). Skill ratings are used to figure out who you should match against and what the outcome of those matches should be.

The ranking system is a separate thing. You can rank based off anything, really. Currently Halo 5 tries to match ranks to skill as much as possible, but you could rank off of win/loss ratio, K/D, games played, or just about anything else.

I would want to see a permanent ranked btb mode, btb competitive is really fun especially when you go up against clans that know what theyre doing as well.

I don’t thinks if you copy the current ranking system with the mm system is a good thing. As a skilled solo player i get punished with way less skilled teammates and highly skilled teams to play against. Wich makes me lose 2/3 of all games. With a 2.5k/d i can hold my own against skilled players but my less skilled team gets slaughterd that leads to a loss of the game 2/3 of the time. Not a fair system to me.

Im sure we will see a continuation of the CSR system. Although id like to see military ranks implemented again as well as having exp linked to rank. Exactly how H3 did it.

Ah, I understand now. Thank you for clearing that up.

But if you want to win and rank up, then getting a skilled team to play with ( as others are able to do ) would be beneficial for you.

The game only search for your team mates after you tell it you go in solo.

You are presented with the exact same abilities ingame as everyone else, it wouldn’t be fair if you didn’t get to pick team mates.

Team play is also an important skill to win games, at some point your ability to carry others will not suffice and you need to take the correct actions to ensure your continued success in winning and ranking up

Just do Trueskill and progression.
