I just spent a lot of time playing grifball for the first time and i had a blast, but i was wondering, why is there no competitive grifball? it would defiantly be a entertaining mode.
Probably the same reason there isn’t a Social Slayer or Social Team Arena or whatever social playlist equivalent other people are asking for: population division. If a ranked/comp. Grifball playlist was introduced, you’d be splitting the Grifball-playing population across two separate playlists that serve nearly the same function, which is something that 343 has been trying to avoid as of late.
Grifball has been the lowest populated playlist for two months that we know of and probably a lot longer than that. There’s no way 343 is gonna make two playlists for it. Best bet would be to just add a competitive mode in the playlist similar to Infection where there’s normal Infection and then Alpha Zombies, but I don’t even know what that would entail. Might create issues though if it’s too different. If you want to learn about competitive stuff, you could try out Grifballhub and ask around, but I think the site is shutting down soon.
It’s a lowley populated playlist. Splitting the population between social and comp would make it difficult to find games

Then again, we do have a Social Breakout (Extermination)
There’s simply not enough demand for a competitive Grifball gamemode. Warzone may have gotten the Warlords treatment to attract competitive Spartan Companies, but that’s on a whole different level entirely.

In a way, yes, but it’s a rotational playlist that plays differently enough from its base mode, so it’s not quite the same.
