Alright, I am part of the competitive side of things when it comes to Halo. Let me say this before the hate happens. Halo 4 does look promising, but different. It actually looks good, and can’t wait for it.
I’ve played Halo since CE in 2001, and I feel like Reach took away the competitive feel for Halo. You’d end up matched up with people at random. Your team was usually horrible, getting cR was a horrible idea. Getting points for kills is pathetic, it doesn’t create teamwork, it just creates lone wolf style in team based games where people just run around stealing points from another. What happened to Halo where winning is what mattered? Anyways, enough about Reach.
I just hope 343 will help the competitive community out a bit with either a separate playlist type of deal, or a rank system that doesn’t affect your actual rank. ex: Having 1-50 back, but getting a 1-50 is optional, it wouldn’t affect having a SR56 or whatever, it’s just a added feature to look at to see what skill range people are in. Also, I feel as if the Halo games were created for competitive players, then switched to casual gamers. COMPETITIVE PLAYERS like me, were the ORIGINAL Halo players, besides some casual players, that’s why they had SOCIAL in Halo 2, and 3. It went from being a skillful game, to a noobie 9 year old’s game. 343i I’m counting on you guys to make something of this title. Please PLEASE make this Halo have something for competitive players. Whether it be updated in the future, or at launch.
Armor Abilities aren’t a bad idea, just get’s rid of competitiveness in Halo. So I hope you have more playlists than Slayer Pro for people like me with objectives too. So I don’t feel like I’m just irritated and bored.
I’m not saying get rid of the casual side, just make sure there’s something competitive that is SUCCESSFUL, make it better than Reach’s arena, that was a major fail, and not based on skill to be honest, it reset, and people could steal your kill and their “skill” level is somehow better.
So 343i, make this game great for both casual (which I’m sure it’s great for casual play), but also for the competitive community.
Sincerely,
Khazies
