Competitive Community.

Alright, I am part of the competitive side of things when it comes to Halo. Let me say this before the hate happens. Halo 4 does look promising, but different. It actually looks good, and can’t wait for it.

I’ve played Halo since CE in 2001, and I feel like Reach took away the competitive feel for Halo. You’d end up matched up with people at random. Your team was usually horrible, getting cR was a horrible idea. Getting points for kills is pathetic, it doesn’t create teamwork, it just creates lone wolf style in team based games where people just run around stealing points from another. What happened to Halo where winning is what mattered? Anyways, enough about Reach.

I just hope 343 will help the competitive community out a bit with either a separate playlist type of deal, or a rank system that doesn’t affect your actual rank. ex: Having 1-50 back, but getting a 1-50 is optional, it wouldn’t affect having a SR56 or whatever, it’s just a added feature to look at to see what skill range people are in. Also, I feel as if the Halo games were created for competitive players, then switched to casual gamers. COMPETITIVE PLAYERS like me, were the ORIGINAL Halo players, besides some casual players, that’s why they had SOCIAL in Halo 2, and 3. It went from being a skillful game, to a noobie 9 year old’s game. 343i I’m counting on you guys to make something of this title. Please PLEASE make this Halo have something for competitive players. Whether it be updated in the future, or at launch.

Armor Abilities aren’t a bad idea, just get’s rid of competitiveness in Halo. So I hope you have more playlists than Slayer Pro for people like me with objectives too. So I don’t feel like I’m just irritated and bored.

I’m not saying get rid of the casual side, just make sure there’s something competitive that is SUCCESSFUL, make it better than Reach’s arena, that was a major fail, and not based on skill to be honest, it reset, and people could steal your kill and their “skill” level is somehow better.

So 343i, make this game great for both casual (which I’m sure it’s great for casual play), but also for the competitive community.

Sincerely,

Khazies

We need a good ranking system like Starcraft and LoL, not 1-50.

Halo ce and 2 were the least competitive and most unbalanced games in the series.

Agreed. Death to Arena!! >:D

Exactly, I was just using an example that would make more sense for what I was describing for the Halo community.

True, because all these Starcraft 2 references are confusing me.

Probably because people like you post responses like this.

Balance is only one element of a competitive game.

Also, they were only unbalanced if you cared that you couldnt use the 25 re-skins of the SMG or nooby guns like the needler.

They were very skillful games.

It would be nice to accommodate to both of the types of players (competitive, and fun-seeking)

I don’t think that they should necessarily re-add the 1-50 system. I believe they can take the skill ranks much further and make them much more meaningful.

Honestly, I’m just sick of playing people that I clearly shouldn’t be playing.

I’m sure that WaddlingPond53 isn’t having a great time when I’m destroying him in Double Team.

Just make the entire game ranked. Not that pseudo trueskill in Reach. Actual rankings based on who you win against and how often you can do it, like in Starcraft 2.

Probably since the same thread has been posted everyday since march, but oh, you werent here then, were you? The bandwagon left when frankie said their would NEVER be a halo3 type 1-50 ranking system in any of the games he oversees.

I’m quite sure the OP used the 1-50 only as an example.

He is correct, I only used it as an example. It just makes an easier reference for the Halo community. Since that was the ranking system in the past.

You know damn well he did mean it. This is a very flammatory subject, sure what i said will only make people mad, but seriously people, its been goin on forever, so youll get a few like me in these threads. Since the search feature here is broken, google a competitive thread from march, then try and find the other 100,000 threads just like it.

I recently read an article that Josh said, it is very hard to please all sides of the community. Meaning someone is going to be mad, if you guys are still hoping for this system or sometjing similar, you could be setting yourselves up for serious disappointment.

Every single one ends up locked and a few bans usually a result, so before that happens to me, i am outta here.

He still only used it as an example. It’s even stated in the post.

He is also still supporting the casual side, and is not attacking any specific group of players.

And see ya later! I dont believe we will miss you.

His post is also really about retaining the competitive side, and isn’t making any very specific suggestions on how to do it.

Yo deluca34 chill the out man. If these posts bug you so much, then don’t start reading them. You don’t have to come in and start something, just because you get annoyed.

I know, right?

He obviously wanted to take part in the “Flammatory” subject, because he “read”(Maybe) the OP and posted a reply in opposition to it.

Seems he just wants to fuel a nonexistent fire.

Criticism is an art.
