I would like to suggest that BTB be added to the competitive playlist. Personally i play it a lot and it is easily one of the most played playlist there are. I play in teams of 8 a lot of the time and the other teams quit out because we are destroying them. This means sitting in a game for 15 minutes whilst the last person refuses to quit. If added to competitive there may be more incentive to not just leave all the time, also there is easily a big enough player base for the game type.
I believe that the reason they do not have a competitive BTB is because it’s more of a social game mode. Competitive game modes are more small team objective based, unless you count Slayer, and they require more 1v1 or 1v2 battles. BTB however encourages more 1v4 or 1v5 battles, but the lone spartan has a vehicle or power weapon. Also, someone can just sit back and get a win from their teammates without doing anything. With 4v4 slayer, however, a 3v4 is more difficult than a 4v4.

If someone was to sit back in a competetive BTB it would give an disadvantage to the team and therefore limit the chance of winning. Also the point on 1 v 5 or 1 v 4 is not valid in my opinion due to the fact that to play a team game properly you should not be in this situation. If you’re in a team then why should you be on your own but then the other team has 5 people against you, that is just bad game play. As for the vehicle or power weapon aspect, power weapons and power ups are part of all other competitive game types and vehicles on BTB are on both sides of the map, therefore the advantage of vehicles is negated.

You make a valid point, but that still goes back to my point on how competitive game modes are better served as small-team skirmishes. 1v4 or 1v5’s don’t happen often, but there are times.

I would say that your opinion on small team skirmishes being more competitive is most likely held by 343 in general based off of the fact that it is the status quo, although that doesn’t necessarily mean it is correct. I would maintain that there are extremely competitive BTB players and BTB games especially when my team comes across another and therefore these sorts of players and teams would be better suited in a competitive style game. Considering the number of die hard BTB fans that will play nothing but the game type and the fact that there are large clans such as “ExO Delta Gaming” who’s whole premise is to recruit based off of BTB, I would argue that it should at least be put on trial on a temporary basis to see how well subscribed it could be.

Ah, I didn’t know there were clans for recruiting straight out of BTB. With that out of the way, yes, now I do think that it should have at least a trial. It might not fit the small-team competitive basis, but at least it might be fun!
It was brought to the Ranked environment for a lengthy-ish period of time (after it received its last update) which wasn’t so long ago, but its ability to maintain its population health diminished faster and greater than when it existed as a social mode. So… they eventually moved it back into the social environment where its remained since.

I’m not suggesting replacing the social play one but as with other gametypes should just run both at once. Breakout and snipers are totally dead
Ranked BTB would be dead as well if they kept the both versions around.
