Comparison: Past Halo v Current Precision

I noticed a lot of people saying that many are complaining about the DMR being strong now, but no one complained about the BR being the master of all weapons in Halo 3 and previous. This is a stupid counter argument because in Halo 3 and 2, there were no other precision weapons. It was just the BR and the Carbine, and the Carbine barely spawned on any maps. Therefore, the only precision rifle was the BR. How can the BR be OP, when it is the only weapon of it’s kind? It is hard to compare a precision weapon to an automatic weapon because they are used for 2 different things.

However, in Halo 4, we have 4 precision weapons, which is good, because we have variety. However, when one precision weapon overpowers the rest of them, then we have a balancing problem. It is true that these precision weapons are more or less effective at different ranges (I don’t understand why we need TWO human precision weapons, especially when the DMR existed only in Reach, and somehow survived three Halos without every being used to suddenly reappear).

Most people deny that the DMR is OP. It is not OP, because OP would be that it is a 3sk weapon with an automatic rifle potential. But the DMR is stronger than the other precision weapons because it is consistent and effective at all ranges. Some may say that in small maps, like Haven, the BR is more useful. It actually isn’t, because I have used both the DMR and BR on every map, and I always get faster kills with the DMR. In all honesty, the majority of people who don’t think the DMR is unbalanced are people who could not steadily aim a BR and get higher than a 40 in Halo 3.

You also have to realize that War games is a combat simulation so they can add what ever they want

Long range DMR > BR 100%
Mid range DMR = BR
Close range BR > DMR 100%

How do we fix this? increase the aim assist on the BR to match the DMR that fixes the long range issue short range i cant tell you because its never been DMR over BR or die

Actually, people did complain about the BR in Halo 3.

And the DMR survived three Halo games to reappear because it was originally an Army weapon while the main trilogy revolved around the Marines. This new variant is now a Marine weapon.

But yeah, the DMR is OP. It’s far too easy to use at close range. In fact, both the BR and DMR are OP.

How about they just drastically reduce the aim assist on both, make BR 4 shot with a slower ROF, and decrease DMR ROF.

I really don’t like Aim Assist… it’s kind of annoying.

What I’m trying to say is that there was no good reason to complain about the BR in H3. It was the only precision weapon you could use as a starter weapon, besides the Carbine. You can’t really compare a precision to an automatic because they do different things.

Now we have 4 precision weapons, and one of them is a do-all weapon, making the other 3 rather pointless. This should be remedied.

Try to shoot your teammate its harder then you think with no aim assist i get what your saying but if you remove aim assist to much no one will be killing anyone but the poor trees in the maps ):

It actually isn’t. Back before I had live in the Halo 3 days, I would practice with my friend 1v1 while we are on the same team. First to -10 kills(betrayals) wins.

It was pretty hard at the beginning, but you get better. We also did this with sniper rifles. But they should drastically reduce aim assist.
