Most top KBM have played halo, experience isn’t the problem. AA is too strong or bullet mag for KBM needs to be added like destiny 2.
but beyond this we aren’t covering new ground. The stats as they are do have weight. They prove that in at least one area there is a diparity.
they don’t prove that evening the gap on that disparity will level the playing field…
these stats are also mnk vs mnk and controller vs controller.
Strafing is easier on mnk… you go from 100% left speed to 100% right speed as quickly as you can press 2 keys. + crouch.
you cannot crouch on controller and strafe without key rebinding.
the 10% disparity could be a factor of this… it could not.
either way you need to stop saying ridiculous statements like controller = aimbot if you want controller players to care what you think.
mouse magnetism is in this game.
Hardly. Im not here to argue about movement and other factors. What i’m telling you is that shooting, in this shooting game. in this first person shooting game. A controller player has a staggering advantage over me. in my own experience, i can easily land more headshots per game just by using a controller. This isn’t “cheating” by technicality, but it FEELS like i’ve been cheated. When i can watch a man look vaguely at me and gun me down perfectly just by letting go of his aim and smashing the shoot button.
the fact that you are so easily brushing past another variable which is potentially skewing the data you are referencing just again proves how narrow your field of view is… you cannot take 1 aspect of a completely different control type and “fix it”. It is more complicated than that.
the statistics are not so easily deciphered.

Rotational auto aim is in the game and is a form of aimbot. Reticle slowdown is aim assist and was the only form of help in the old halos (Not MCC versions). Getting free tracking without moving your joystick sets a very low skill ceiling and creates a game that isn’t fun to watch as team shots become the only way to win.
The solution is too increase strafe inertia to make movement more predictable while also removing rotational auto aim. We could also do with a more lethal sandbox to allow for more dynamic 1v1 play instead of getting each other weak and having the team shots decide the outcome.
We’re not trying to fix anything here, we’re removing an unfair advantage.
whilst ignoring the remaining mnk advantages… nice
There are inherent advantages and disadvantages to MnK as well as Controller. movement is different, the east of accessing multiple buttons for grenade switching and tagging, each control set has native restrictions, such as controlling your strafe speed with a joystick in ways that WASD can’t.
But these issues are part of the core design of the input system
Aim Assist and Magnetism are not. these are software level handicaps that punish players for developing their own skills with mouse and keyboard when they can simply allow a controller to perform admirably if not better than their own talents. Giving players access to a system that drastically lowers the skill ceiling of a core part of the game is not an acceptable way to make up for their choice of inputs limitations.
You really think 343 is going to make a change that over corrects and puts KBM on top?
You have nothing to worry about.
You very much have to worry about people getting sick of being cheated and jumping ship.
Yes. But being cheated and feeling cheated are 2 different things,
I’m not saying that there isn’t a unfair difference. I’m saying that toning down AA as the only measure is not the solution.
That’s good. that’s great. go start a discussion about how to help overcome the movement limitations, and I’ll stay here and fight against aim assist.
An inherent 10% disadvantage seems an awful lot like a concrete disadvantage to me pal, even if i have other advantages, it doesn’t disregard this particular glaring issue.
Haha still quoting the 10% for the statistics that we’ve already discusse could be skewed… but your not interested in talking about.
No you disinterest in finding a middle ground is precisely why this discussion remains so polarised. We’ll stay right here and fight right back.
But really as already mentioned… lets just split the inputs and move on… everyone can be happy… except wait… in MCC they did that and people still werent.
ah well.
"People aren’t happy with a split, because Jockstrap Andy can plug in a controller and get aim assist while still playing with a mouse and keyboard.
How about we have no cross play at all, and if you want to play the PC version with a controller, you can play without your handicaps like a big boy.
Let me throw you a nugget, I don’t think we should get mouse magnetism either, I’m a Raw Inputs Radicalist.
I don’t want a middle ground that pleases no one, i want the game to be fair and balanced, and you can’t balance a race between a cow and a horse." -Mercury
Love those post limitations.
You could simply fix this by making the person choose mnk or controller at the time they enter matchmaking… This is not a big problem to solve.
All the Mnk players ignoring the fact these stats aren’t even likely accurate, and the obvious lack of aim assist in infinite bewilders me.
Get your head out of your superiority complex, you wish Controller players were so inferior that this lowered aim assist is still auto-aim but we’re so bad we need more.
Or maybe, the vast majority is right - including all the best Halo players who’ve stated this is the hardest Halo yet. Get your head out of your collective master-race backsides.
Oh man I went back and tried controller on pc (previously only tried controller in the flights). It’s super sticky in red reticle range (and I suppose it’s why people say the aiming feels off because once you pass a threshold of input it shoots off the target).
I feel like aiming on controller is way easier in red reticle range and no scoping past that is way harder. Literally picked up the controller and the first couple kills I got were perfects - I rarely can get those on Mnk and with significantly more effort. BR is FAR easier to manage on controller for mid to short range and the last shot of the 4th burst is far easier to hit with the magnetism.
No scoping with any precision weapon is FAR easier on Mnk.
Strafing is FAR easier on controller - especially if you incorporate circle Strafing.
Zoomed precision weapons seem marginally easier on controller.
This is coming from someone who was very proficient with controller until about 2012 and then for the most part haven’t played Fps on controller since (aka I’m trash with controller now but somehow still find it easier in most scenarios in this game).
To be clear, I’m not advocating for one side or the other in this discussion.
I think people just assume mice are better because of CSGO sweats on youtube jerkin themselves with cRaZy aim videos.
