Here’s a short overview of what you can find inside this week
Halo 5 Sandbox update - along with the 4K update for the X1X this Fall, sandbox changes and possibly some other goodies will be making their way into Halo 5. Quite a bit to read in the section, worth looking over it for all the info - Microsoft Store halo Tournaments - details of upcoming tournaments happening in MS Stores over the next few weeks
Team Skirmish has been removed from rotation - Double XP Weekend this weekend: Heroic WZ Firefight, Grifball and Team Arena. - HCS London is coming, whoo! - Community Spotlights with some amazing artwork from the community - Wangtimeeee, that pic is sick! - Dreamhack Atlanta Recap - Splyce HYYYYPPPEEEEEEEPretty sweet update this week, looking forward to more details form the sandbox tuning next soon
Yeah looking forward to this update. Even though we don’t have much detail as of yet it’s a start. I wasn’t sure we’d be getting another one anyway. I have been pleasantly surprised.
I can’t wait to be helping with those changes ASAP.
P.S. I started a thread too. Yours is better. Might as well lock mine down.
This is exciting news. I’m happy to see Halo 5 getting some attention for a change. I hope the double XP weekend in Heroic WZFF can bring back some of my friends who stopped playing Halo 5…
On a personal note, I also want to say I appreciated the shout out to those dealing with the wildfires in areas north of Seattle. Some people in BC who are close to me (not physically close, but they’re important to me) are being significantly affected by them

Yeah I hear ya on that one. I am glad they’re putting effort into keeping things fresh and balanced though. I really thought things like this were a thing of the past.

I’m pretty dumb, so bear with me.
Is this just an academic exercise or is there a great hue and cry to address this? What weapons need adjusting?

Well speaking personally I am ready for a little tweaking to the AR.
In case you didn’t read the update this was about as specific as Ske7ch got:
1.Revitalize and re-balance the Halo 5 sandbox to a more desirable state
2.Establish/strengthen unique roles for each weapon and remove role redundancy.
It sounds good but somewhat vague on how they hope to accomplish this. Next week should be the start of more detailed info coming out.
I can’t wait to see how much worse they make the sandbox once the settings are finalized. Unfortunately, their biggest contribution to the competitive settings has been removing weapons, not altering weapons.
Wait what? A new sandbox update? That was unexpected but as ever I will reserve my judgment until we learn the specifics. Although, I never found myself questioning the balance all too often, well in Arena.
But double EXP on Heroic Firefight and Grifball? HELL YEAH!

Hell yeah man I gotta get closer to that 150. I’ll def be up for some firefight this weekend!
The way he worded the sandbox update didn’t really inspire me that it was gonna be good and no 4v4 objective playlist in social isn’t good. I did like the double XP in Heroic since that’s my main WZ playlist.
Just finished reading the update… definitely can’t wait for next Thur. now!! The weapons update is great, but I really hope they can get these random disconnects under control. Beyond tired of them ever since Monitors bounty update.
Getting back to the weapons update, I think some major (and dome not major) things will happen. My guesses are,
AR will lose it’s headshot bonuses and/or the range will be decreased when using the zoom - Hydra Launcher gets an increase in rocket speed when shot (original one I’m talking obviously) - Brute and Strom rifle both take many more shots to kill someone when they lose there shields and my pick for the biggest change is… - Spartan Charge will get tweaked!!! Less tracking I’m thinking. My one pick I’d love to happen but highly doubt it would is melee weapons (sword, hammer) lose their
range increase when zooming (hate that feature!!!)
If they really want to blow my mind… replace the H5BRs on Arena maps with the H2BRs…or give us the option to use old school zoom on weapons like BR, Carbine, Pistol etc. That’d be amazing!!! …hey, one can dream lol
Anyways, that’s what I think. Man I can’t wait till next Thursday!!!

> what exactly would the sandbox update entail?
Making certain weapons more role specific such as the SMG acting like an SMG not a BR in terms of range, but it could mean giving the various scopes used on Loadout Weapons (AR/BR/SMG/DMR) an actual use besides aesthetics and removing some of the redundant variants such as the “Long Barrel”, “Stabilization Jets”, and “Sound Dampener” variants. It would also mean rebalancing power weapons to make them more useful/appropriate for their Req level.

I don’t think the AR has a headshot bonus but it and other automatic weapons have a “Spray n Pray” medal for killing an enemy Spartan way outside of the RRR (Red Reticle Range) of the weapon, and the scoping isn’t the problem but the decrease of the bullet spread over range due to scoping.
The standard Hydra Launcher does need a slight increase in Projectile Velocity and even slighter decrease in reload time but not so much as to make the Typhon variant useless.
The Brute Plasma Rifle and Storm Rifle do exactly what they are designed primarily to do and that is knock-out your shields fast but not as much damage to the Spartan’s health; this has to do with the fact that they are plasma based weapons so they do more damage to your shields than your health.
The Spartan Charge does need to be tweaked but it’s not exactly tracking but the range of how far you can turn in one direction to aim.
They could release a H2BR scope variant for the H5BR because the H2BR is actually more accurate, thus more powerful, than the H5BR which is more realistic than the H2BR which is why it isn’t included in 343’s official maps.
343 could also include an option in the Custom Game’s “Game Mode Options” to use the old school (Full Screen) zoom over the Smart-Link Zoom.
