Community split on halo 5

I wonder what 343 will do when the game comes out, you have people who like halo from bungie days, vs people who like halo 4 and 5 beta, I know they’d love for all halo fans to love their game, but a lot of fans don’t like the direction halo took since halo 4, on the same token some people love it. How can they strike a balance to avoid halo 5 having the same issue halo 4 had where after just a year halo 4 had less online players than its predecessor halo reach. Me personally, I prefer the bungie days simply because I loved going at it lone wolf and not if u try anything lone wolf you’ll end up a stain, but that’s just me, be interesting to see how they respond to this especially since there’s a lot of people who completely gave up on mcc, they actually played it at a game tournament and streamed it live on twitch showing the constant crashes and glitches resulting in a Microsoft rep having to apologize.

They need to have new stuff AND old stuff.

Variety is key.

I liked the Halo 4 campaign, and while I was getting better at the Multiplayer, I missed Halo’s 1-3. I will be honest and say I have not been good at Halo since CE, and that is mostly due to time constraints, not being able to give Halo the time to get better. While I think there is a lot of distrust for 343, I don’t believe they are to blame. Bungie changed everything with Reach, and 343 moved with the trend Bungie left Halo with. Halo 5 has added more things, and I somethings I do not like, i.e. Ground pound. Though what I do like is that everybody has the same load out. That to me shows that 343 is at least listening, while trying to evolve the game. No company is going to get it 100% to the fans liking while trying to modernize the game. Sprint is here to stay because of Reach and Halo 4. In my opinion it would be off if they were to remove it, because of the storyline of the Spartans. The most we can do is give the best feedback we can, but because there is a huge split between newer fans and older fans, there will be things that some sides sides will like, and there will be things that some sides don’t like.

The community has always been split.
There’s been the casual people swallowing everything the developer throws down their throat and there’s been the more hardcore fans who actually want the core gameplay of Halo.

I’m baffled how 343 stated 5 would be a return to halo’s roots akin to Halo 2, making me think halo 5 would be closer to Halo 2 Anniversary rather than what halo 5 actually is. 343 did well with Halo 4’s campaign and I think 5’s campaign will be really good, multiplayer wont last. Honestly halo 4 is far closer to the original trilogy than halo 5 ever will be as, 1 it is essentially the same as halo reach but with the Br and new weapons. 2. all the things such as ordnance, custom loadouts, armor abilities and such are entirely optional. People seem to forget that Halo 4 came with very customizable settings that allowed things like ordnance, laodouts and even armor abilities to be completely removed from gameplay, which essentially leaves you playing halo 3 with sprint with halo 4’s graphics. Sure its 343’s fault for not implementing such changes into matchmaking but regardless its still there.

Halo 5 MP isnt bad but its definitely gonna lose population quick. I will only play it casually as well, and stick to MCC for hardcore play and the 1-50 leveling. If MCC gets -Yoinking!- fixed (as i refuse to play ranked until then) and they add more ranked playlists.

P.S. halo 2 anniversary also has better graphics than the halo 5 beta which is sad because the beta looks polished up.

Edit: I hope microsoft and 343 just hire certain affinity to maintain and oversee MCC in the long as those devs have been closely tied with halo since the beginning. (the founder of CA is former bungie just like the people that run 343)

This. What’s worrying even more is that the people who agree with the new stuff have only played Halo 4 in most cases. They officially lose all credibility and shouldn’t have their feedback taken in. How is 343i allowing this? Why are they so ignorant when it comes to listening to their fans. REAL fans. Not the kids who come on here and try to keep 343i going along the treacherous path they have decided to go down.

I think bungie left quite a big shoe to fill. I was happy to see the mcc released because I halo was the only game I’ve always came back to for my multiplayer haven, however I was one of those who was turned off by halo 4 multiplayer and went back to halo reach, but I’ve always been hard core halo 2/3 more than anything else, since the disaster launch of mcc I decided not to play until it’s fixed, I wasn’t too crazy about halo 5 beta but I’ll probably get it pre-owned at some point just for the campaign, I lost alot of faith in 343 to deliver multiplayer experience I was looking for, so rather than get frustrated I’ll just move on from it and hope halo 6 will feel like redemption, hopefully the mcc will be fixed or maybe we would get reach as a dlc game. 343 have alot of work ahead but I honestly believe if the mcc isn’t fixed, it’ll be bad news for halo 5, we all saw how the drm issue almost cost Microsoft it’s xbox one, gamers don’t forget and they do hold grudges.
