i didn’t read about the next community play date until after it happened on the 10th, it sucks because i had to go to work and do many chores before i could go on, and i was always on the edge of my chair waiting for the next play date.
who else here couldn’t go on because of life’s problems?
Community playdates are happening every week now - there’s a weekly Social stream that happens every Wednesday on Mixer, where different 343 employees jump into various Halo 5 modes. Last week was Tashi and Grim and they played some HCS.
I find the Community Playdates biased. I work a 7-3 job Monday through Friday, but 343 seems to want to do Community Playdates during normal working hours for 70% of the workforce. 3pm PST? It always seems like it’s between the hours of 1-3pm CST. Why? Can’t they ever mix it up so those of us that actually WORK and play have a chance at these playdates too?
Every week there will be an opportunity to obtain the Ice Unicorn skin?

Staff have their own lives out of the office remember, they won’t always be available to do things like this outside of work.

Yes, if you match with 343 during the weekly social streams then you’ll be able to get the skin 
Editing for clarification: Some weeks the social stream may play a game that’s no Halo 5, but there will likely be community playdates outside of the social stream that will allow you to get it. Either way, there will be more chances to get it over the next few months

That’s completely understandable. However, it doesn’t take away the fact it’s still biased. You have to play on THEIR time, which basically comes down to if you work 1st/2nd shift in the US you can’t participate. I find that a little disheartening. Not for myself, because I could care less, but moreso for the community. There’s people out there that DO care and want these visual aesthetics but literally cannot find time for that.

It depends on where you live. The play dates on Wednesday are 1:30pm PST so it would be 4:30pm on the east coast.

So in order to match somebody you have to manage to play when they do? That’s shocking.
Consider for a moment how difficult it is for a normal adult to get time to play halo. You have to find enough time free from work, normal chores, familial and social obligation, or the like in order to sit down and play. Now multiply that times that four to eight people that are generally on a 343 playdate team and add in that their schedules have to coalesce to some degree. It isn’t going to be an easy thing to schedule. I have all those things going against me and I’ve still managed to play during quite a few of the community playdates (never matched against them anyway) and watch the stream during the most recent one.
They also have run the community playdates at different times in the past. Sometimes targeting specific timezones. They’ve made a concerted effort to allow as many people as possible to try and get the skins as possible, when they really didn’t have to. They could easily have chosen to schedule the community playdates at the time most convenient to them and let everyone else scramble to try to make it. They haven’t. No one is entitled to have the opportunity to match them and yet they’ve made several efforts to expand the number of people who potentially could.
I have missed all the play dates because they always happen while I’m at work.
What if we had more spartan company (clan) matches weekly?
Well, it seems they are going to play Halo Wars 2 in today’s stream, so no chance to get the skin this week.

I don’t know how long this specific Wednesday play date will continue to happen, but they generally do play dates when new playlists are introduced so that can be year round.
