When Halo 5 was released I had such high hopes. I bought the game, took it home, and have been playing it religiously swearing it revived the Halo scene. Turns out I was lying to myself. The more I played and got over my starry eyed fanboy stage, I realized this; it’s the same damn game. I don’t think anybody ever ruined halo in reality, I think the community and the matchmaking engine ruined halo. I mean, where’s the fun in playing a game where nobody talks to each other unless it’s to talk -Yoink-, the matchmaking system consistently matches teams of premade parties against teams of random people searching solo, and where nobody can actually chill and have fun? Even if Halo 5 was meant to “revive competitive halo” with the removal of split screen and all that and have a more serious environment, it’s a little ridiculous when you can barely spawn into the game and have a fair chance at even moving. Now people are going to comment and leave me a -Yoink!- with something like “quit crying on the forums and go get better noob!” Or “go make some friends you loser then play with premades!” But I think that just proves they haven’t read the post. The vast majority of the halo community that remains either is 12 or behaves like they’re 12. Enough said. Maybe halo just isn’t for me anymore, which would be pretty depressing since I’ve been playing since the release of combat evolved.
As much as I respect your opinion halo is and will always be a very competitive game. If you don’t want to play with randoms you’re stuck with free for all. This game was the reason I got an Xbox one and I have made tons of friends just playing the game. Not all of us are immature.
Fun story, I was playing Warzone and Holiday Social yesterday, and I kept getting matched with two kinds of people.
- Little kids who were completely unintelligible.
- People micspamming crappy pop music and rap the entire match.
i agree to a point
halo is more fun with friends but yes this game has made Halo very sweaty and caustic
the only time i find people that i genuinely enjoy talking to and messing around with is in Warzone and very rarely in BTB

lmao git gud scrub
I vaguely understand your point but it’s not what “ruined halo.”
The slowly poorer games ruined Halo - Reach wasn’t as good as H3, we get hyped for Halo 4 - Halo 4 was dreadful and died instantly, now people don’t buy and play halo like they did. Simple.
So I guess I just have to follow Gethtones and “git gud?”
