Community maps canon?

I believe all the developer maps for every Halo game have lore tied to them and are part of canon. Is that the case for the community maps included in matchmaking?

EDIT: no preference either way, just curious.

I never even thought out that until now. Maybe not Canon in relation to the actual Halo Universe, but many maps have background stories within their descriptions (Halo 5 forged maps).

This is an interesting subject too. Maybe 343 should official create canon per map.

Outside of aesthetics I don’t think there is. Also I dont think there needs to be. One of the mistakes 343 has made with Halo, IMO of course, is trying to inject lore into every aspect of Halo. For example doing Spartan ops instead of firefight. Before Halo 4 released I remember some one from 343 saying “we finally answered why a red Spartan would be fighting a blue Spartan”…ummm I don’t thing any one was asking that since everyone pretty much knew that Halo lore was in the campaign and multiplayer was just the icing on the cake so to speak. Every thing doesn’t have to be tied to cannon or lore. To me the #1 thing when it comes to multiplayer maps is is it fun to play… Sure it’s nice if it has lore tied to it but not necessary either.

An interesting idea! I hadn’t thought of this before, but some maps are just so well done I think it would be great to have them added to Halo’s canon. Either way it’s still great they were featured in the game I suppose.

They could probably just call them basic training maps or something generic like that. I think 343 trying to make everything lore based is not a good idea. I’m sure Halo fans are smart enough to realize that some things are just for multiplayer and don’t need to be canon like weapons skins for example.

I think the maps are canon due to the multiplayer being explained through Warzone and Simulations.
