Anyone else find it odd the community managers like Sketch Uny and Postums have gone radio silent on the game these past two weeks in order to just simply promote the TV show?
Then you have the former multiplayer devs who worked on this game (AndrewWitts, MP lead) but are no longer with the company now liking jokes about how Halo fell off…
Seems odd how disconnected they are from the player base
Comparatively to literally every gaming community I’ve been part of ever this has to be the worst community management I’ve seen.
I don’t really think this falls on Joseph Staten because he’s really the only one updating us at this point. (and in all likely hood he saved the game from being a further disaster)
Someone should probably tell them community management isn’t just tweeting once or twice a month.
Most of us were willing to accept the abysmal state the game is in for frequent updates. The Halo Community has waited years… a couple months wouldn’t break the Camels back.
When they say “Keep the feedback coming”
How do we actually know they are even listening us?
I wouldn’t be surprised if the community managers didn’t like how Infinite has turned out but aren’t able to actually voice their opinions for fears of losing their jobs. Might be why forming employees are happy speaking out about how bad it’s launch has been.
There is a communication blackout order after the whole Ukraine MOD thing, I guarantee it.
343 is 404 right now. They’re catching crap from all sides but it’s all deserved from stupid decisions, and just not listening.
So until they have fixes for the things that are -Yoink!- the community off, there’s no point in throwing gas onto the fire by coming out again and saying we have nothing please be patient.
Which to be honest, just typing that boils my blood. So it’s probably the first smart choice they made, just sucks for us.
The longer this goes on, the higher the chance is that they’re going to lose their jobs, so it’s time to start speaking out so the pressure gets put on the right people to make changes.
We saw the state the game was in during it’s initial gameplay reveal. Given that by all accounts he seemed to have been instrumental in getting it at least delayed for a year I don’t think there’s any way he could have screwed it up more than it would have been back then.
Looking at what the pressing issues are those don’t seem to be ones a “head of creative” has much influence on anyway. Desync, lack of modes and bad progression system seem to be in another department. He might be involved with a holdup of maps - although I doubt those are mainly unfinished due to the creative team not doing it’s job (but we really don’t know).
This is my biggest question from the 343 front. Where is Bonnie Ross? I understand she can’t fix it overnight, but to be the person over this dumpster fire and not be out trying to defend/explain/apologize for it seems pretty ridiculous.
But you bet your -Yoink!- that she will be on stage somewhere the first chance she gets to take credit for something done right, or a big announcement.
She has been at the helm of 343i since Halo 4 and we have not a single success story since. She may not be an unqualified leader be she certainly is unqualified to lead this series.
A good leader would’ve jumped in front of this train back in December.
The Glassdoor reviews really spoke volumes as to the culture of 343i.
Leadership has no idea what they’re doing. People won’t buy another Halo game until this house is cleaned.
She got dog-piled alot during Halo 5, so I guess she is trying to stay in the back and not say anything.
But I’ll be honest, I thought she left the company. I didn’t know she was still there.
I also just don’t like laying blame at the feet of one person. This is a group-effort mess up and everyone in power isn’t doing their part. Except maybe Joseph Staten. We’ll have to see what he does for Infinite long-term.
Yeah I agree to a certain extent. It looks better now they polished it up to make it look pretty. However, I found the campaign to be a bit lack luster… a cut scene here and there might have been nice and I’m pretty sure that falls under Joe’s jurisdiction.
But like I said it’s speculation, we just don’t know what Joe did in the 24ish months he was in charge!
I think it’s because there isn’t much to say. What are they going to do? Request and publicly respond to people gathering footage about bugs and how to reproduce bugs? The team that manages the support section have had their hands full with that job.
343i have always made mistakes, always, but they’ve also proven that they can reach the finish line and that several parts of the final product will be good. The only thing that someone who likes Halo can do is wait. Honestly, I’d say come back when Season 3 releases or when next year rolls around.
