Invasion is fun and all but the only maps 4 invasion are spire, boneyard, and breakpoint. playing just those three maps gets boring after a while. Community made maps would make me play invasion although some aren’t very good but it would be good to have some diversity
Bluerunner has an awesome set of Invasion games!
Bones153 also has a neat spiritual successor to Silent Cartographer too!

I completely agree!
Apparently, you can’t have forge maps because it will lag for people playing 4 player co-op on the same screen.
The solution?
Make it 2 or 3 players max.
The amount of times I’ve lost a game because a guy and his 3 other guest quit, leaving it 2 vs 6.
It’s one of the most frustrating things ever. =L
I never play Invasion and think it’s lame but after seeing some of the amazing custom Invasion maps, I would definitely play it if they were put in.

My thoughts exactly. I hope they figure out a way to get them in MM. Hopefully the Community Cartographers continues so they can help facilitate this.
I agree with this 100%. Invasion would get a whole new breath of life if they added some of the User Generated Invasion maps. Maybe this is something they’ll look at when Halo CE: A rolls out.
Invasion is indeed a good playlist to sit back and enjoy. But I feel it is in dire need of some new maps. I’ve seen a few custom built maps on Youtube and I must say that they are crafted to perfection. I strongly believe that it will lead to some epic encounters between both Spartans and Elites within these new maps. Let us hope that 343i looks into this and give it some love.
I’ve been waiting for community invasion maps since the forgetacular contest. Unfortunately, I think some bugs need to be fixed with custom invasion first. The most obvious of these bugs is the ability for the defenders to continue to spawn at any of the spawns they have already used. That is, on phase 3, the defenders can spawn behind the attackers by choosing to spawn at their phase 1 or 2 spawns.
I totally agree though. Invasion is in dire need of new maps. I’ve always felt highlands would work as an invasion map as well…
Absolutely 100% agreed. I’ve made a couple threads on various forums and the general consensus has been that Invasion needs variety in the form of more maps, as playing Boneyard or Spire, with Breakpoint appearing every 1,000 game but not being voted for, is infuriating. Invasion has so much potential but right now it’s stale as anything. A Community Invasion playlist first, to test the maps, would work a treat. The 4-player Split-Screen lag could be fixed by a cap of 2 local players. That’d also eliminate People going in with 3 guests who don’t try to do anything but let the attackers win the first two rounds then camp for Banshee on Spire.
Invasion needs to be dropped to 2 Local Players Max. There’s no need for 2/3 of a Team to be on one console. There’s already a high quit percentage in Invasion, you don’t want to leave 2 people on a Team when the others quit. Sure, it happens when everyone’s on a separate console as well, but it’s not all at once…
I agree 100%. Invasion is one of my favourite playlists in Reach as a whole and its so frustrating seeing all the other playlists get so much attention and evolve with new maps while Invasion stays almost exactly the same as it was on launch day. We’ve essentially been playing the same two maps for over a year now, since Breakpoint turns up so rarely.
I understand that that the main issue with forged invasion maps is the framerate problem with multiple players on one console but limiting it to two players per console is arguable acceptable. Its not exactly fair for a team in Invasion to be built up with mostly players on one console, and they undoubtably will quit causing a 6v2 scenario. Not good odds for the team that just lost 2/3 of their team.
If they are needing good maps to be tested and placed in the playlist they should just start a thread saying so. I garantee that they would get loads of replies. Understandably they will need a lengthy process of seeing if the maps play with the gametype, play well, is balanced, not causing issues with framerate etc. A long list of requirments but it would be worth it, even if we got one or two maps. I would say the best amount would be, for the first wave of maps at least would be two or three maps. It would essentially double the amount of maps we currently have and would allow us, the palyers to leave feedback on which ones we like, if there are any exploits that need fixed etc. A community playlist would be perfect. Please 343, we beg you, give us this oppurtunity. We wont let you down.
If you need suggestions try the maps already posted in this thread alone, the Silent Cartographer reimagining is a fun map. Here’s one of mine, Beachead. Its still being finetuned but its a great example of how some of the maps the community makes are worth being considered above all else.
Hey Darkfire!
I’m gonna playtest your map during my Customs Night tomorrow.
Does it come with a specific gametype or just use the generic “Invasion” game?

Custom gametype, its in a fileset, here. Let me know what you think by PM, if you make a thread I’ll lose it lol. Cheers
The ultimate problem with any type of custom Big Team map or Invasion map is the framerate. You could make the most amazing Invasion map ever made, but the framerate always limits it.
I agree with Lycan that it should be decreased to two per console, because three players is pointless, but you all must understand that the “epicamazing Invasion maps that you played last week in customs” must first be tested for quality of framerate, playability, and interaction with differing connections of online matchmaking.
