Personally I think Shutout is the best because it works perfectly for team slayer and team swat. It was a blast being able to play it again. They even rendered the annoying tendency of players accidentally falling to their deaths just right.
Garrote map is also one I enjoyed playing. It is a small map that brings back memories of Halo 2-3, pure close quarters mayhem. Of course this map is terrible for capture the flag, but it would be an ideal map for people who want to play a map that feels very Haloish; it would also be perfect for a lone wolves playlist. This should definitely be used on Regicide.
Simplex is also enjoyable. It has a feel to Haven, but it’s different. The reason I enjoy this map because it has a nice balance of long range and close ranged firefights. I like ambushing 2 enemy players with an assault rifle and getting the double kill or simply massacring a single enemy player when he runs right into my entire team. Capture the flag is descent in my opinion, sometimes I like it and sometimes I dont, but this map is to symmetrical to be playing that. It’s like playing capture the flag on haven.
Relay is one of my least favorites of the map. It was annoying playing this map because I felt like the map forces players to stick to the outer pathways as people would DMR anyone in the middle. I came up with a strategy of using Active Camo near a wall and popping feel shots and camoflaging when somebody shot back. I would rack up a descent number of kills. This map I think needs players to play a different style, one Im not used to… But after the first week I think this map is growing on me.
Scythe: I think Scythe is an Ideal map for SWAT and many other objective game types. However, in the playlist you only get to play SWAT and infinity slayer. I really enjoyed all the elevated walkways and DMRing people from a distance and ambushing players in corridors with the assault rifle. I think this map is well balanced. One thing I enjoyed is using the teleporters in SWAT to catch the enemy team of guard when they have just spawned. I racked up killtaculars in this map.
Despair is an ideal map for King of the Hill. I like how most of the hills are in the small arena in the middle. It makes for some frantic firefights and stalemates as everyone chucks grenades in the middle. This map calls for teamwork as one player must be in the hill as the other player must go around the upper floor either sniping enemies or killing them to get them off the back of the other player in the hill. It’s a great feeling being the only player alive when the hill moves to a different location and being the only player alive in the hill and the other 4 enemies coming from multiple directions and you are trying to fend them off and here comes your other teammates and save you. Team slayer is pretty good as well, but hopefully they could incorporate this map for other objective game types like CTF, Oddball, Regicide, and Dominion.
All these maps are pretty good, hopefully they keep all of them and add them to the regular playlist and not scrap any one of them.
