Gametypes are all typical and fantastic. Nothing to say about there. Love Pro on these maps.

The maps themselves are pretty neat.

Edifice, Black Site, Assault, and Bloodthirst stand out for me, Edifice being my most favorite of the maps so far. It’s nice seeing grass. :stuck_out_tongue:

Congratulations to the finalist, it is nice to have some more variety in MM. With the quality of some of these maps, I think (or atleast hope) a few of them will stay in the FFA playlist, and hopefully some will even make it to some team playlist. Overall, great job forgers!

bloodthirst is horrendous to play on, every game is nothing but people gang banging the people that are spawning because you constantly spawn out in the open giving you no chance to even move. along with PODs it becomes a race to who can get a POD thirst and start spawn killing.

I have only played games on Assault, black site, and edifice. I would try getting games on the rest, but Infinity slayer is beyond frustrating.

For the most part, the map selection is solid. However, even with good maps, this game is utter hell to play.

  • Instant respawn forces players into the map too quickly. Spawning safely is too difficult on maps like assault because there are always 7 other players on the map at once (assuming no one quit lolololol)
  • I don’t remember the last time I got killed by a primary weapon. Just boltshots, PoD’s, and promethean wussbags.
  • scumbag join in progress. No one in the world should deserve to join a game late when somebody in that game has 8 kills. I guess it’s to fill spots for quitters who get consistently F’ed over. Does 343 have any common sense regarding an even playing field?

Despite everything, it’s a step forward. The map pool is satisfactory. But that isn’t enough to keep me playing this. I couldn’t play 10 games in one sitting.

Gratz to all of the other finalist! Can’t wait to play the playlist tonight! Had a blast testing these maps. I will give more feedback on the maps, to include mine, after playing games this week. If anyone needs to address something to Assault, please send me an invite to NLTROOO. Thanks everyone, and hope you enjoy Assault.

Edit:

Played on every map except Bloodthirst, since it was never voted. Here is my feedback:

  1. Black Site - honestly, change nothing. This map plays great with Rumble Pro.
  2. Edifice - Even though the map was meant for KoTH, it played exceptionally well for FFA.
  3. Serenity - another favorite, in my opinion I like the sticky det, but if needs to be swapped out try using the shotgun or rail gun there.
  4. Assault - needs one or two spawns fixed. Needs a possible removal of shotgun.
  5. Opus - plays great, looks great!
  6. Plaza- needs to be reforged, some of the walls and ceiling blend. Lift can feel broken at times. Remove turrets. Reduce map size if possible.
  7. Malice - not my favorite, plays okay. Some routes felt rushed when this map was forged. Also a lot of lazy cover. Weapons were okay, spawning there were times I would spawn literally next to someone.

I will update as keep playing. Also, remove infinity rumble as it breaks the maps intended layout. It kills the projected feel of map when everyone has Rockets and damage boost flying above the ceiling.

Other than that, I loads of fun, even when someone who apparently hated all the maps, he still played them lol.

Some points in support
. Best playlist this game has ever had
. The maps need to be integrated into normal MM ASAP
. Slayer Pro is the best way to play
. 8 players creates a good fast pace game. Ignore the complaints about kill stealing, this is how FFA should be
. Regicide hasn’t been an option, keep it that way

Some issues
. JIP is best removed
. Some spawns are congested and I’ve had people spawn right next to me and assassinate
. Boltshot needs to go, hence why Slayer Pro is the superior way to play
. Rockets and other power weapons seem to be on a 2 minute cycle - 3 minutes would be more appropriate

Noting I haven’t played all the maps yet - Plaza, Black Site, Serenity, Assault, Bloodthirst, Edifice

Holy crap please remove JIP from all FFA from now on, I mean atleast on Regicide you can catch up by headhunting the king, On a FFA? Not if you join a game where they are up by 8-10. Jesus take it out ASAP

As for the maps, I made it my mission to play on all 8 before posting feedback and well, I played on 7, I could not get a game on Serenity for the life of me, Moving on

Bloodthirst 8/10: Pretty fun map, I like the Beam Rifle spawn, Was interesting needless to say

Plaza 10/10: Again, Really fun map. For some reason I really loved this map

Edifice 9/10: Loved the grass/open area. Small but big enough for 8 people. Possibly my favorite

Opus 4/10: Plain and simple, I hated it

BlackSite 7/10: Loved the dark feel to it/high area where you can pick off people running on bottom

Malice 3/10: Please remove this map, forever

Assault 7/10: Liked it but theres too many power weapons at the start and the spawn timer of each is too fast (I know theres alot of power weapons on other maps, But these are OP, especially the shotguns)

So all and all if I had to pick 3 they would be Edifice/Plaza/Bloodthirst

Honorable mention to Blacksite because it stands out being the only dark level and it looks so sweet

Bloodthirst, I swear whoever designed that map came from COD because the spawn system is the worst I’ve ever seen. You spawn and 10 seconds later your getting shot at. If this is supposed to be a remake of Warlock which it appears to be a version of it, the maps spawn system needs to be COMPLETELY redone because Warlock never had spawns like that…ever

Malice is decent, 10x better then Bloodthirst and has a well designed spawn system. No problems with this map

Blacksite is good, the spawn system could be spread father apart but that’s just me

Assault from the JiP (please take this out of FFA…) was very well designed.

I only played a few maps this morning but here are my opinions so far of the playlist as a whole.

  1. LAG: I hope that I just got unlucky with bad host but of the 4-5 matches I played each match was the worst lag I have ever seen in the game.

  2. Maps: The ones I played were very well done, I didn’t come across any bad exploits.

  3. Settings: Slayer Pro is the only way to play these maps IMO. Certain AA’s are just too OP in this game type.

  4. Jet Packs: I am sorry but this completely ruins what could be fantastic game play. Get rid of the Infinity stuff where people can have this in their load outs.

  5. Instant Respawns: This needs to be removed in every variant, because the maps are very small and all the Ordnance that comes into play it is very easy to get spawn killed a lot.

Over all I like what is going on in this playlist. I will be playing some more later tonight.

P.S. Dear God, please remove the Jet Pack, it breaks every map in here.

Haven’t played too much yet, but here’s what I think from what I have played.

Edifice: Only played one game on it, but I really liked the map. Great layout! The power weapons don’t spawn too close together and in good place, and there’s plenty of cover. Great map overall!

Bloodthirst: I played this map twice, and it was pretty bad. I can’t think of a single time I spawned in a safe place. Whenever I spawn, somebody is shooting at me immediately. And once you get Ordnance, there’s no place to send it down because you’re almost always surrounded. Definitely my least favorite!

Will add more when I play more.

Join in progress needs to be removed from the FFA playlist it has absolutely no place in an FFA setting because you are competing against everyone else.

Being put into a situation where you start at 0 Kills when everyone is above you sometimes by over 10+ kills is incredibly unfair and all the power weapons will have been taken you are at a major disadvantage

Join in progress should be removed because you are thrown into games at a disadvantage and 99% of the time with a zero chance of winning.

This was a problem in the Majestic FFA playlist I’m not sure why this wasn’t taken into account for the Community forge FFA playlist but it needs to be for future FFA playlists because JIP and FFA don’t mix.

My only problem is all the maps feel, play, and look the same. I wish you gave us more ways to make our maps look different and not just little outlines for the color. Give us more texture options or more color options.
Pro is the only way to play FFA. Otherwise it just doesn’t play right.

Absolute, full-on, no-holds-barred -Yoink!-

I was really looking forward to these community FFA maps as a HUGE FFA fan, but all of the maps play exactly the same and are incredibly disappointing. Spawn, shoot, kill, die or spawn, turn, shoot, kill die, or spawn, get shot and die before having an opportunity to fire more than 2 shots.

It’s really ridiculous and I don’t know why everyone thought it would be a good idea to make the maps and spawns so DAMN cramped that you can’t even breathe after you spawn.

Positioning, power weapons, map control, etc - any kind of strategy is pretty much useless and neutralized by the structure of the maps because you can’t move for 2 seconds without at least 3-4 enemies popping up on your radar. If you’re lucky enough to continually find and finish off opponents weakened from previous gunfights, you will win, and that’s all there is to it. Longer range gunfights are nonexistent because they only end in assists. Snipers in your ordnance laugh at you because you have no time to scope in - it’s all snapshots all the time which really means beam rifle or don’t bother. I can’t go anywhere or pursue any kill without being bum-rushed from multiple angles EVERY TIME and I have to essentially ignore most of the enemies on the radar until I secure a kill and turn around but by that time I’m already dead anyway so why bother.

Where are the maps like powerhouse or sword base or sanctuary or reflection or zealot or countdown or pinnacle or the cage??? They were all fun to play on and fast-paced without being put on freaking speed like the way these garbage maps are played. You got to breathe for a few seconds when you spawned to actually STRATEGIZE about what you were gonna do next - where you would go - who you would engage. You had a choice to engage or not and you could force the fight on your terms if you had the map knowledge and mindfulness to do so.

In these maps, you’re just forced to shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot without any time to think or process and while that may be fun occasionally, I want a thinking man’s game in my FFA which is what I loved so much about Rumble Pit in Reach and Lone Wolves in H3. I’d rather play FFA on the launch maps than this garbage.

Sorry for the rant but I was REALLY looking forward to FFA and now I have to wait EVEN LONGER until we get the permanent FFA playlist (which I assume will have the launch infinity slayer maps, the majestic maps, and some forge maps).

Does anyone else agree with me on this?

To start, I absolutely love this playlist. After abadonding regicide because it just got to the point of ridiculousness, this is a breath of fresh air. FFA is always my favourite gametype, and this one plays very, very well.

Ok, so here are my issues:

Black Mine or whichever map is on Erosion needs some work. There’s no incentive to go Bottom Mid (aside from the OS which is next to useless in FFA) and the lines of sight are absolutely attrocious for an FFA map.

There are spots (such as the places with reailings) that need to be moved out by a block so that there is a decent amount of cover, as right now there is next to none.

Next: I have no idea which map this is, but it’s played attrociously. It’s one of the Ravine maps, has Binary Rifle and Sniper on it that spawn occaisionally.

Personally, I’d say scrap this map completely. It’s not fun to play at all (aside from the binary rifle, but that has nothing to do with the map) and the aesthetics are really lacking. The ramps on the map (such as the 4x4 at the back that sat a 45 degree angle) are ugly to look at most of the time, or just really don’t flow with the map.

There’s a huge lack of ramps to get up and down between areas, and a massive lack of ways (meaing none) to get from area to area without going to the top floors and completely exposing yourself to the random, and largely bad spawns and sightlines.

I have no idea what it’s called, maybe “etifice” or something along those lines, but it just did not play well at all.

Gametypes are fantastic, never had any problems aside from those two maps which weren’t very enjoyable (the first one was, but it needs work).

Oh, and JIP needs to go. Nothing worse than joining a match down by 15 kills with 10 left in the game.

EDIT: Also, the maps are very cramped (aside from a few of them). Despite being 4 times the size of the average Halo 2-3 ffa map, these maps still feel really tiny and congested in with each other. There’s little to no breathing room (which I am going to blame on sprint, as these maps would be better off without it.)

Powerweapons: Why are these things so useless? I see a weapon drop, maybe someone gets a kill with it and then it’s gone. I think the only three weapons I managed to use after playing the playlist for a while were the Rocket on one of the maps, the OS on another and the previously mentioned Binary Rifle.

Binary didn’t last long at all, Rockets were there and then gone, and if I don’t pick up the powerweapons I don’t see them the whole game (outside of Infinity Rumble, which would play much better without OD).

I think we need to make the dissapearing times longer. These weapons are gone faster than most people have time to pick them up.

I think the first game I played, I one the game with 24 kills BR, and one kill melee. In Halo 3, it would have been maybe 13 kills BR, 7 sniper and the rest generally random.

Plays super different than previous FFA’s, which isn’t a bad thing because it doesn’t play too bad, but it needs a bit of work overall.

EDIT: Forget Edifice being the map I was critiquing. Edifice is fantastic, I just got the name wrong of the other map.

I’ll come back and replace the name when I find the name later today

Please remove Join in progress from this playlist. There’s no need for it, and it really sucks when you lose a match by a few kills b/c it was JIP.

take off instant re-spawn (there’s too many players in at once for it to work especially for FFA. POD’s need to be toned down NO POWER WEAPONS possibly just give random AA’s instead or load-out weapons in general. There’s people having issues with frame-rate in the playlist from what i see on you-tube.
