To start, I absolutely love this playlist. After abadonding regicide because it just got to the point of ridiculousness, this is a breath of fresh air. FFA is always my favourite gametype, and this one plays very, very well.
Ok, so here are my issues:
Black Mine or whichever map is on Erosion needs some work. There’s no incentive to go Bottom Mid (aside from the OS which is next to useless in FFA) and the lines of sight are absolutely attrocious for an FFA map.
There are spots (such as the places with reailings) that need to be moved out by a block so that there is a decent amount of cover, as right now there is next to none.
Next: I have no idea which map this is, but it’s played attrociously. It’s one of the Ravine maps, has Binary Rifle and Sniper on it that spawn occaisionally.
Personally, I’d say scrap this map completely. It’s not fun to play at all (aside from the binary rifle, but that has nothing to do with the map) and the aesthetics are really lacking. The ramps on the map (such as the 4x4 at the back that sat a 45 degree angle) are ugly to look at most of the time, or just really don’t flow with the map.
There’s a huge lack of ramps to get up and down between areas, and a massive lack of ways (meaing none) to get from area to area without going to the top floors and completely exposing yourself to the random, and largely bad spawns and sightlines.
I have no idea what it’s called, maybe “etifice” or something along those lines, but it just did not play well at all.
Gametypes are fantastic, never had any problems aside from those two maps which weren’t very enjoyable (the first one was, but it needs work).
Oh, and JIP needs to go. Nothing worse than joining a match down by 15 kills with 10 left in the game.
EDIT: Also, the maps are very cramped (aside from a few of them). Despite being 4 times the size of the average Halo 2-3 ffa map, these maps still feel really tiny and congested in with each other. There’s little to no breathing room (which I am going to blame on sprint, as these maps would be better off without it.)
Powerweapons: Why are these things so useless? I see a weapon drop, maybe someone gets a kill with it and then it’s gone. I think the only three weapons I managed to use after playing the playlist for a while were the Rocket on one of the maps, the OS on another and the previously mentioned Binary Rifle.
Binary didn’t last long at all, Rockets were there and then gone, and if I don’t pick up the powerweapons I don’t see them the whole game (outside of Infinity Rumble, which would play much better without OD).
I think we need to make the dissapearing times longer. These weapons are gone faster than most people have time to pick them up.
I think the first game I played, I one the game with 24 kills BR, and one kill melee. In Halo 3, it would have been maybe 13 kills BR, 7 sniper and the rest generally random.
Plays super different than previous FFA’s, which isn’t a bad thing because it doesn’t play too bad, but it needs a bit of work overall.
EDIT: Forget Edifice being the map I was critiquing. Edifice is fantastic, I just got the name wrong of the other map.
